(CNN) -- Tennessee ans quarterback Vince Young was cited with misdemeanor assault for his alleged involvement in an altercation at a Dallas, Texas, strip club early Sunday, according to police.
Young, 27, is accused of striking another man in the face, causing an injury to his lip, after the two got into an argument, an incident report by the Dallas Police Department said. The man did not require medical attention, according to the report.
Police responded to the incident at 3:30 a.m. Sunday at Club Onyx, described on its website as an upscale "urban gentlemen's club" and adult entertainment venue.
The assault charge against Young is punishable upon conviction by a fine of up to $500, Dallas police spokesman Lt. Andy Harvey said.
Young was issued the citation after detectives interviewed witnesses and reviewed video of the incident, Harvey said.
In a statement issued Sunday evening, the ans organization said it is aware of the incident.
"The organization has been in touch with Vince and we will continue to gather additional information," spokesman Robbie Bohren said in the statement.
Young, a Houston native and graduate of the University of Texas, was drafted to Tennessee's NFL team in 2006.
If he struck the guy in the face and injured his lip, he shouldn't have been charged with a Class C Misdemeanor Assault By Contact (a fine only offense), but rather a Class A Misdemeanor Assault Causing Bodily Injury (punishable by up to a year in jail). I'm a Vince Young fan, but he should be charged correctly.
video of the incident. http://www.dallasnews.com/video/dall...ml?nvid=414497
Get your jab in, Aggy.
There's nothing in that video that is deserving of jail time by anyone involved. Apparently VY was provoked by the club manager. However, it didn't give VY the right to do what he did (even though I love when big mouths get what's coming to them). VY deserves to be fined by the authorities and by the ans for putting himself in a crappy situation. He had a great year and an awesome comeback and doesn't need to take step backwards.

So making an upside down hook'em horns sign is supposed to be an insult?
I've punched people for less.
I imagine something a bit more personal was said besides, "F*** the Longhorns!" VY hears things like that wherever he goes. Still doesn't give him an excuse to do what he did.
I never said the guy should go to jail. All I said was that he was charged with a lesser offense than he should have been. A Class A Misdemeanor doesn't necessarily mean jail. Most people get probation. , if you or I hit someone in the face and injured their lip here in Texas, we would get charged with a Class A Misdemeanor. Why should VY be any different?
Well, it seemed as if that's what you were insinuating by making sure we all knew that a Class A Misdemeanor is punishable by up to one year in jail. If that video is used as evidence, nowhere in there did I see anything that would necessitate a stint of probation or jail time for either party. The club manager's (or whoever it was) supposed lip injury didn't even require medical attention which leads me to believe VY didn't land a punch. Anyone can cut their lip, hand, cheek, etc. in a huge scuffle like that.
VY shouldn't be treated any differently than a regular person, but all cases are different. I'm sure you've seen fights in public while out partying (like I have) that are much worse where both parties walk away without being arrested. Like I said, VY was stupid and he should be fined and/or suspended for being in a place he shouldn't have been...nothing more. If he had knocked the dude out cold and the EMTs were involved, then there's a serious problem.
Good for Vince....a manager of a club should never talk like that to a customer. Beat his ass down...HOOK 'EM!!

And life provides its own Wonderlic test for Vince. Grade...not much better than the last time he took it.
