If the Celtics close this thing, they would have beaten the Lakers 10 times out of 12 in the Finals. I know the series ain't done, but still

50 years of dominance with 22 years between championships?

The Celtics have one championship in the past 24 years. Can't live off the 60's forever....

We had a few in the eighties. And if we win another game, we'll have a couple this decade too.

That's great but this 50 years of dominance thing is so absurd its comical.

The Celtics were not dominant beyond the 60's.

I guess you forgot how the Lakers owned the 80's winning 5 championships to the Celtics 3 with the Lakers in the finals 8 out of those 10 years.

    Newbie my friends.

One championship in the past 24 years says all that needs to be said.

I would think 10-2 and 2-0 in the past 3 years would add something to the discussion.

Agreed. Lakers have had arguably more success as a franchise.

"more "recent" success as a franchise"

But the Celts are the standard, I have to admit. 18 championships regardless of how they were attained is commendable. Can't argue that.

I'd rather yield to the Celts than ANY other team in this league for in the discussion of the greatest teams in the league it's only 2....Boston and L.A., no other team comes close. No other. We are in good company.

Amazing how much less annoying their fans are. Or they have better web masters and don't have to migrate here like many of us.

    in todays boston newspaper;

History holds that when an NBA Finals series is 2-2, the winner of Game 5 wins the championship 76 percent (19 of 25) of the time. The Celtics have never lost a seventh game in the Finals. They have been in this event 20 times, winning 17, including nine series against the Lakers. Boston has won a championship against the Lakers in five buildings: the Minneapolis Auditorium, the old Boston Garden, the Los Angeles Arena, the Los Angeles Forum, and the new Boston Garden. Now the Celtics have a chance to win the championship at the big arena on Figueroa Street in downtown LA.
    :

This series ain't over---but if the celtics complete this----

    WOW

Yes, the San Antonio Celtics will garner their 21 & 1/2 ring if they complete this. And we'll sit with the other 28 clubs who have already lost.

That has a lot to do with the fact the Western conference outside of LA was an abortion until MJ retired.
