Blair to throw out first pitch at Pirates game
By Alex Oltmanns
Former Pitt basketball player and current San Antonio Spurs forward DeJuan Blair will throw the first pitch at the Pirates vs. Chicago White Sox game Wednesday, June 16, at PNC Park.
“I have been a fan of the Pirates for as long as I can remember,” Blair said in a press release. “I am looking forward to getting out on the mound in front of my hometown crowd and taking part in such a cool Pittsburgh tradition.”
Blair is getting ready for his basketball camp, which will be held at Robert Morris University beginning July 6. He plans to hold the camp annually.
The camp is affiliated with Five-Star Basketball and is open to boys and girls ages 9 to 18.
Reports have also surfaced that as long as he gets it near the plate, he will be offered a contract to pitch for the Pirates.

Hopefully he works on his free throw during the summer also
Cool that Blair is holding a camp for kids 9 to 18; he's a great fit for the Spurs.
Blair may not even have rotator cuff muscles.![]()
Great. And why should we give a ?
Don't worry, with those long arms he should be able to just place it in the mitt.
a member of the spurs is to be featured in a national baseball event

Video: DeJuan Blair Throws Out First Pitch
By Adam Gretz
DeJuan Blair was one of the best basketball players to ever suit up for the University of Pittsburgh, and he would eventually go on to become a second-round pick of the San Antonio Spurs at last year's NBA draft. He finished his rookie season by averaging over seven points and six rebounds per game. And he was back in Pittsburgh -- his hometown -- on Wednesday, and was invited to throw out the first pitch at the Pirates vs. White Sox game.
He gets extra credit for going all the way out to the pitching rubber -- many people that throw out the first pitch go a little bit shorter -- and his pitch appeared to have more zip than anything thrown by Pirates starter Zach Duke.
Nice throw! it looked like a curve ball!!
Lucky the catcher didn't drop it, he'd be on top of it in a flash.
Personally, I like it when famous people are fans of teams for long periods of time - especially if they're bad teams. I saw some tool the other day on national TV (some celeb but I don't remember which one) that was wearing a Lakers jersey and a Yankees hat.
