The argument for me is a pointless one, as basically any nation on earth can make this claim for any sport in which they don't invest their full dedication.

Essentially, most countries can claim "If we spent more time into developing basketball/hockey/football/baseball, we'd be much more compe ive on the world stage."

Isn't this what exactly happened in basketball? In 1992, the US team won by a average of 40 points per game. 12 years later, the growth of the sport result in Argentina winning the the gold medal. And clearly, Soccer >>>>>>>>> Basketball in Argentina.

I guess that means Argentina could dominate basketball if they cared as much as they do about soccer. But who really cares about 'ifs'.

On a side note somebody should really make a "Lol USA" gif with that dumb ass grown man in the stands who was crying after the Bradley goal
I did tear up when he equalized dude, I have nothing but respect for that guys passion

Only two sports teams can bring me to that, the US natty team and Auburn football.

    Recognize!

    Absolute truth in that statement.

Every US National team member is like a B- athlete comapred to the other major sports.

While the rest of the world puts their very best onto the "pitch" (using that correctly?) at age 3.
Have to disagree with you here DR. Have you worked out these players alongside the best in other sports? I think not. You're much smarter than making blanket statements like this

It gets so ing tiring hearing American's pull the "we'd win everything if we bothered to try" bull . There's literally no other fans in the world with that amount of narcissism. Most bother to win something first.

As a US Soccer fan, I agree the "we'd be good if we tried" argument is lame. You go tell our players they are subpar athletes that don't try. You're an idiot if you believe that. You think LeBron James would be a good soccer player??? Probably not unless he were to be a goal keeper (which the US consistently fields 1st class quality players). We send our top soccer athletes out on our soccer team. We just aren't as good as the rest of the world yet.

I am so proud of this team, even if they don't advance.

The bottom line is, if they had played better to start the game then none of this bull would matter.

I sincerely hope we crush Algeria and find a way to advance. This team could certainly make some noise if(admittedly a very big if) it can find it's way in the early going of matches.

Yeah ^, for some reason the U.S.A seem to play like dog at the start of matches. When they go behind they start to play like a decent team.

USA needs to come out against Algeria the same way they trashed Egypt in a must-win game last year at the Conf. Cup. It won't be easy, but its gotta be done.

Major props to Algeria for putting up a fight tonight.

I hope we tie against England and Algeria beats USA and the two underdogs advance.

And Football comes from the people who created the sport.

What if they changed american football to elipse. I think it sounds pretty cool and catchy. The ball is shaped like an elipse.

that'd be an ellipsoid btw .. ellipse is a plane object.
