Lakers consider pursuing Bell
By Adrian Wojnarowski
The Los Angeles Lakers and guard Raja Bell will enter free agency with a strong mutual interest to reach agreement on a deal, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
Kobe Bryant has become a strong advocate for Bell, a former nemesis. After missing most of the season with surgery to repair ligaments in his non-shooting wrist, Bell is still expected to be a coveted bench player among contending teams. He could give the Lakers another strong perimeter defender and a solid outside shooting threat.
Bell, 33, was dealt to the Golden State Warriors in November as part of the Stephen Jackson trade with the Charlotte Bobcats. Bell missed all but six games last season.
Bell famously dropped Bryant with a clothesline foul in the 2006 playoffs, but the two developed a mutual respect and bond. Bell was ejected and suspended a game for the foul, and complained about Bryant’s tactics in the postgame news conference.
“It’s a personal thing when someone continually hits you in the face,” Bell said at the time. “That’s the only way I can put it. I’ve been playing as hard as I can play. I’ve been trying to do a good job, I’ve been trying to be what my team needs me to be, and I continually get hit in my face. There doesn’t seem to be any boundaries or limitations for what he’s allowed to do to me, and at that point, I kind of lost my cool and I took it into my own hands.”
Bell made a league-high 205 3-pointers in the 2006-07 season for the Suns under coach Mike D’Antoni, but his role changed the next season under Terry Porter and he was eventually shipped to Charlotte. Bell averaged 13 points in 45 games for the Bobcats in the 2008-09 season.

you.
Truly, thanks for posting 228. I wouldn't have read the story otherwise.
Kobe, he's a corker....is there a guy he ain't got in a pissin' match with that he didn't end up burying the hatchet with?
Once Bell whacked him he was never the same player. Left his best work in the sheets that he & Kobe had ed in.
Manoshevitz.
Kobe sure showed him by responding with 1 shot in the 2nd half of game 7
tee, hee
True, but, Kobe rehabilitated and rang twice more since Bell whacked him. What's Bell done?
That clothesline ruined Bell.
The opposite happened to Mike Miller. Kobe karate chopped him in the adam's apple then felt bad afterward, apologized, Miller dove into the nearest rabbit hole>>>hide nor hair hasn't been seen of him since and a course Kobe rang twice more.
Kobe is a wonderment upon this earth.
its not like Bell is gonna lead a team to a championship. He was never a big time player before or after the clothesline
Well, I have to bow to your judgment, Luva. I've been here a smidge over a year and if you've been wrong one time, I'm a monkey's ass.
Jesus, Luva, we get to run things here (Lakers Board at ST) for another year. I God's, it just keeps gettin' better & better.![]()
Makes you wonder how many scrubs the Lakers ring in the next 5 years?
The Lakers need to infuse their bench with desperate ring chasing vets willing to play for scraps.
Thus far all of the vets have gone elsewhere to teams like Boston.
Never understood that either if i wanted a ring, LA is the first place i would go
Great city
Great weather
A lock for the Finals every year
Play with the best player in the game
And even if i were to suck, there wouldn't be any pressure. They have nothing but scrubs on the bench and yet they've won too rings anyway![]()
Wallace hates us, hates our guts so that was understandable him signing in Boston.
228 posts a variety of interesting articles.....good job duncan228....
I don't trust that er either.
No thanks, they need some athleticism off the bench. He's been chillin on the bench in GS with a bull injury for a while now.
I think he had so much fun goin balls deep on you guys in 04 that he wanted a double dip.
tee,hee
unfortunately for sheed, he assumed rip hamilton was a poor man's ray allen, and not the other way around.
Sure, he did.
He was gonna do exactly that. It'd a been horrible around here if that a happened.
But, like Luva said: we countersigned his retirement papers, and ordered Staples security to usher him to the Greyhound.
I don't really want Raja AND Sasha on the same team. Even Laker fans will start to hate the Lakers if they do this
you people need to calm down with this great city , great attractions, ok, great place to bang chicks if you are rich, ok, great city, no, i live in this disgrace of a city, everything from the air to city council to mayor villarm two de edukashion cystim is ed.
here is an example of how ed it is, if you go to subway, and get 5 dollar footlong, and if you get it toasted, they charge you sales tax, if you dont no sales tax, by getting my bread warmed i owe the city 50 cents.
Get a better job!![]()
so you laugh at the example but dont understand the absurd principle behind it, good job angelino, we need more of your type in this city, question nothing, do nothing, lose 1.5 million dollars a day in operating costs.
fyi, i dont have a job, i get paid by the state university to conduct research
I can believe that.
oops typo, blame the LAUSD
It was a joke... meaning you would get laid more as per your comment and maybe see things differently... lighten up.
I happen to live in Huntington Beach and love it here. If you think LA is alone in these times with the problems you described, open your eyes. There are a lot of perks living in the LA area and I for one have no desire to be anywhere else.
