What a let down by Mexico today. If Franco starts, they have no chance.
Also, Aguirre takes out Guardado early; can't find the logic of taking him out.

Well, well, looks like we're playing Mexico in the Round of 16.
Argentina should have no trouble with Mexico.

Mexico has one good game in this tourney. Not exactly tearing it up.
Which game? France doesn't count, they mailed it in and were the worst team in the tournament.

Mexico did not look good at all.

No team or game is easy in the knockout stages... One lucky shot goes in and it can ruin your entire tournament. Even Uruguay can't take it easy against South Korea.

    ^^^This...

That was singlehandedly the most perplexing decision yesterday...

Franco should have been pulled out at halftime for Chicharito...

Instead Guardado was taken out even though he was playing great? WTH???

If Uruguay had more chances and defeated Mexico... Argentina is set to vomit on them for 3, 4 goals and build confidence for the rest of the cup...

Aguirre has been doing some questionable decisions with the personnel and I don't think that's bound to change...

I think you're overstating the victory... As bad as Mexico played, they weren't dominated by the Uruguayan side... they simply lost by the smallest margin and watched the Uruguayan team defend with 11 players for most of the second half...

Guillermo Franco is playing like crap...

I will agree about Aguirre's stubborness; though truth be told it can't be worse than LaVolpe's stubborness (one which kept a younger version of Cuahutemoc Blanco off the team)...

Be glad Guardado's 35m shot failed to go in... because otherwise the game script would have been reversed... going in I knew the first team to score would win the game....

    fixed.

I just said defeated never said Uruguay dominated them... and we did have more chances even counting Guardado's 35 meter shot

    fixed.

I just said defeated never said Uruguay dominated them... and we did have more chances even counting Guardado's 35 meter shot
Francisco Rodriguez's header in the 2nd half was actually Mexico's best scoring chance... after Pablo Barrera zig-zagged around 2 defenders to muster the cross.... ball just didn't go in....

I would have included the shot Franco never took after Blanco lobbed the ball to him in the box... he just looked at the ball and followed it out of bounds...

Aside from the goal, Uruguay's best scoring opportunity was saved by the keeper...

If by "Uruguay had more chances" you mean more shots on goal that actually went off target... yes, Uruguay took several shots from outside of the box... and most missed badly.

Frankly, neither squad looked dominant, superior or impressive....

I'm just glad that both Latin American countries advanced...

The only CONMEBOL giant Mexico has had some success* over the past ten years or so has been Brazil...

    6 victories...
    5 ties...
    3 defeats...

In the same span Mexico vs Argentina has generated the following results...

    1 victory...
    2 ties...
    5 defeats...

Good game? Didn't really watch it, but expected defeat. Nevertheless, Uruguay was playing solid.

Btw CryHavoc... I still believe they're the better team...

The only thing keeping this team back is Aguirre.... he's making some horrible decisions.

There's no way we beat Argentina with El Conejo as the goalkeeper.... Blanco starting? You know how I feel about this.

Franco killing the team some more...

I don't understand what Aguirre is doing with these re ed line ups. I hope Vela plays, Chicharito starts, Guardado starts again, and Ochoa miraculously makes it to the starting line up.

If not, we should get blown out... watching these games is pissing me off.

Mexico always plays well vs. Argentina. They have good players in fron Dos Santos and Guardado. It'll be a great game

I did... probably 15 minutes in. Trust me I wouldn't have gone to court had it looked promising

I mean c'mon Blanco was starting, and Franco failing like he always does, Guardado taken out? Vela injured, El Conejo.... Chicharito... there's just so many things stacked against us

Not taking anything away from Uruguay, but I expected a worse result.
