Nah, Germany bounced us in the quaters in 02. Ghana beat us 2-1 (I think that was the score - I know dempsey scored off a beasley cross.) in 06.

Very true--the US team can't afford to rest on their laurels if they want to make the most of this opportunity.
And that starts with not sleeping on the Black Stars.
This can be a dangerous team. I had to listen to the game on the radio on my way to work. They have an opportunity, but they're going to have to get some momentum (which they may have), and play with fire...they have a chance to get to the semis with the way the bracket is. If they can beat Ghana, they'll play either Uruguay or South Korea, another opportunity to win. We'll see.
Ghana,Uruguay\South Korea are no push overs gentlemen.
USA should beat Ghana and SK, I give Uruguay the edge though.
If we can get past Ghana, here's hoping for SK in the next round--I want no part of Uruguay, thankyouverymuch.
Not saying they're pushovers whatsoever..just saying I'd rather play them than Argentina, Germany, Spain, Italy etc..
I hope Altidore can find his rhythm against ghana. He made some good plays today, but quite a few bad ones too.
What? Altidore was excellent today. The only poor play I can think of - and admitidly it was a big one - was the poor strike on the open net. Otherwise he has played 3 incredible halfs of football.
Is Altidore the huge beast of a player?

Who starts next to Altidore? I assume Findley will not be that player, but do you go with Gomez or Buddle? Do you slide Dempsy up and play Benny or Edu?
Also - does Gooch start?

Did you see the Ghana/Germany game? it was anybody's game, in fact Ghana had the best chances. Are you saying the US is better than Germany? Really, I don't see how anybody can say that any of these 4 teams is clearly better than the other. They are all pretty evenly matched, imho.
If past performance equals future performance USA should beat Ghana.

the problem is Dempsey has played his best football when he's had a midfield position on the wing. Even though Feilhaber created some chances, our midfield quality dropped when a bit when Dempsey was put up top. What I think Bradley will do is play either Findley/Buddle next to Altidore and have Gomez come off the bench......I wasn't impressed with Buddle at all so it might be Findley again

I see the US winning against Ghana, but they're going to get a reality check against Uruguay.
