Which team or scenario could play out, that would make them a championship caliber team with CP3 as the lead guard?
Obviously depends what the team had to give up to get him.
But one team that I think would greatly improve and become more legitimate contenders would be the Atlanta Hawks.
And they could have had him in the 2005 draft...
Portland, I think that team is a PG away from being a monster.
That team would still need lots more.
CP3 is the beginning, he is not the end.
Hm. Interesting thread. If I had to pick one team, I'd say the Rockets. I think it'd be a fun team with him pushing the break.
No they are a healthy roster away from being a 2nd round team. Blazers haven't won a playoff series since beating the Jazz in 2000. They have talent but they can't stay healthy. Even if they do somehow find a way to stay healthy, the amount of love they are getting makes no sense. They haven't won a ing playoff series in a decade yet they are on the verge of being elite? Prove that you can stay healthy then win a first round series. Then we can talk about the next step.
I think the Lakers could contend next season if they had CP3.
Atlanta, if they get a big body to replace Marvin Williams. They could use Horford and Smith to do different things. I think it cements Joe Johnson coming back and instead of making him a one-on-one threat in the mold of a Paul Pierce, he could play Larry Hughes to Gilbert Arenas in Washington. His passing and defense and scoring would make Paul all but unguardable.
Portland isn't a contender with him. Houston would have to run him in a system to be effective and that negates some of his strengths. Dallas, for sure. Caron Butler, Dirk Nowitzki, and speedy gonzalez running the point? Whoo. They have the pieces to make it work in a trade as well.
I'd love to see him in Detroit and they would go from 26 wins to double that (at least) by just having a point guard for all their wing players. Rodney Stuckey is a nice combo guard they could use as trade bait. Throw a big body in there through the MLE and watch that team contend. But, of course, I am a little biased.
Would you trade Andrew Bynum in a package to get Chris Paul?
From a completely unbiased point of view, that would be a horrible ing idea.
Although it might be worth it just to see Spurs and Mavs fans whine about it forever.
No. Too much upheaval. Fisher will do. Add another various & sundry PG, and get after it....16-17.....
finish it.
Portland becomes Pretenders with CP3, just a step above where they are right now. Their 2nd best player is Lamarcus Aldridge, a jump shooting power forward who can't play D.
But their second best player would be Roy if they got Paul.
Didnt Atlanta pass on Paul for Marvin Williams?
Portland would be a horrible place for Paul, Roy needs the ball in his hands.
Yes.
CP3 is the best Point Guard in the game.
WAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!
Can somebody remind me again how many championships the Hornets have? oh thats right a big fat
How many have the Spurs won?
Wait how many?
If anybody thinks ChrChokeis [BChoke[/B]ul will ever do anything but choke when it matters then they truly are mistaken
WAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH AAHAAHAHAHAHAA
If the Lakers were to get Cp3, theyd have to take back Okafors contract as well. It would be worth the risk though. Lakers would still have a starting center and theyd have ing chris paul.
