I have watched and followed the NBA for many years. Even back to the ABA days with Gervin. It sickens me to watch these kids today try and hold the NBA hostage. LeBron, Wade, Bosh, Amare....Its almost to the point I would like the teams to bankrupt so these guys have to actually know what its like to make a living. It truly is disgusting to see a guy tattoo "chosen one" on himself and then hold the sport hostage and yet he has never won a le...but he expects to be a billionaire for putting a ball through a hoop.

No he expects to be a multi millionaire because he fills stadiums and that generates hundreds of millions of dollars. The only difference is that instead of ownership pocketing all the cash the workers actually get their fair share.

So when a guy like Richard Jefferson makes 15 mil/yr...that is supply and demand? He fills stadiums? You want to give Splitter 6 mil/yr to come over here and you have no clue how he would do in the NBA...but 6 mil is chump change to you. LOL Please raise your hand if you're a joke.

No one's being held hostage. Cleveland's fault for surrounding James with ty talent. Likewise with Toronto and Miami. Those stars deserve better and by creating powerhouse teams it'll probably help the NBA when it comes to $$$ and ratings.

You were not talking about RJ you were talking about the top players in the NBA. I do not know how much money you make and I really do not care but the point is that the amount of money you make and the people you know make has no bearing on what these guys make.

Big market teams like the Lakers, Bulls and Knicks generate hundreds of millions of dollars. The people that work for them and actually generate that income get a good chunk of that money. This is nothing like a middle class situation. Technically they are independent contractors that are able to negotiate their own deals. Do you about general contractors like Zachary construction too?

When RJ was in NJ he was an AllStar. He was overpaid obviously but it is what it is. If you want to about his performance last year too then go for it. I loves me some tears.

I don't think the NBA is dead, but it is pretty sick. The one player should never be more important than the team. This is why Wilt never won a ring until he became a secondary option with the Lakers.

I do cause a hard cap would restore more parity to the league, but then the owner's have too much power. It sucks either way

Wilt won a championship in 67 as a 76er before going to the Lakers. He didn't win before that because of the best teams of all time, the Celtics were around.

I agree with your distain for the "The Lebron Sweepstakes". Its outta control, but unfortunatly he puts butts in seats and butts in seats makes someone alot of money. Look at how he pulled the Cavs out of Ricky Davis/Darius Miles obscurity.

Regular joe fans dont care about Championships they care about dunks and tattoos. And there are far more of those fans than basketball fans

Your point, such as it is, seems to be nothing more than NBA players make too much money. You certainly haven't made anyone cry.

Agreed, plus you look at the NBA's business strategy and it's a complete failure....the Michael Jordan promote teams stars model.

You look at the NFL and it's like night and day, the league promotes teams, but star players still get highlighted. Simply the NFL doesn't have unfair bias to small market teams and neither does the media strangely.

Conversely you see the NBA almost constantly rewarding player achievements like player of the week; where's the team of the week?

The NBA will receive about $930 million a year for all its broadcast rights

They only follow the NBA's lead. The league "jumped the shark" when they decided to market potential instead of winners. Should the "potential" not take advantage of the situation?

It's quite simple, they get away with it because they are anointed and 1st had the skill, and then showed they have the requisite Q Ratings to get away with it. That's just the way the Powers that be let it be.

If LeBron was the 4th guy off the bench, then we wouldn't be seeing that.

    Exactly.

Especially those like LeBron who are financially harmed by the restrictions of the CBA.
