When I was 10, I wanted to kill the makers of Ghosts 'n Goblins.
I was going to say the same thing. That game probably took a decade or more off my life expectancy from stress it caused. It raises my blood pressure to think about to this day.

Astyanax for NES was the same. I don't think I progressed passed the first level.

The original Contra was near impossible even with the up, up, down, down, etc. cheat code. It was comical trying without the code. I never beat it tbh.

Yeah, I feel like most people should be naming NES games tbh.

I don't really count a certain game on the hardest difficulty being one of the hardest games to beat. I feel that a game is hard to beat because it was the game itself was difficult to beat...not because you put it on the hardest difficulty.

And, because NES games had no saves, and had tons of glitches/respawning enemies in certain games...that makes most NES games some of the hardest to beat.

Games like God of War and Metal Gear are difficult but they really don't have on NES games because those games had saves and didn't have respawning enemies that owned your soul.

And, Ninja Gaiden has been running for near 48 hours on my computer now...but I don't want to turn it off.

Hexen - Even with the guide and the cheat codes is damn impossible.

The Hive - Trimark even released a patch to make the game easier, and it is STILL almost impossible to kill the queen at the end. Way harder than Rebel Assault 1 and 2.

Flashback - Don't know if it was a glitch in the game or inep ude on my part, but I just couldn't beat this side-scroller...

Sonic the Hedgehog 2. You got all the way to the final stage only to get no rings and have to beat 2 bosses.

Man I loved this game. It was so unique. Didnt, think it was that hard to beat though unless you normaly have difficulty with puzzle games.

I'm playing TMNT on my Droid, and the slightly less responsive controls are make that so much harder.

    Hexen is insane!

I have the official guide, and still couldn't beat it. The puzzles were just so difficult. Without cheating I never got past the 4th level.

Not only that, but even if you had cheat codes on, with god mode and unlimited ammo/magic, and even no-clipping on (walk through walls) the main boss can STILL KILL YOU! I couldn't even CHEAT to win!

You using an emulator? Can't you just use the 'save state' command and pick up where you left off?

Like most video game bosses, really not too difficult once you get the patterns down.

Now beating Sonic 2 with all of the Chaos emeralds...theres a goddamn challenge.

The last 2/3 special stages were brutal. Especially if you were playing with Tails in the background.

I was using virtualnes.com. It's an online emulator, not one I actually downloaded and only certain games on that site have save states. Ninja Gaiden did not.

But I downloaded an emulator and ended up beating it using save states, I just wanted to try to beat it without them and basically gave up.

On my Incredible, it's near impossible to play any game of the like. Games with a lot of movement would be impossible to beat using Nesoid.

I may just uninstall it from my phone because there's almost no point in having it.

TNMT is LEGENDARY in its difficulty quotient.

Oooh, now I am going WAY back:

Zoop - had an IMPOSSIBLE learning curve! Fun, but so hard I just gave up after a few minutes...
