I'm consistently amused by the dollar amounts involved in these huge celebrity divorces. However, I'm even more amused by the outrage they inspire.
Does Nordegren deserve $750M for being an ex-wife? In the grand scheme of things, of course not. But sympathy and outrage for poor Tiger Woods? Really?? It's not as if he's been left broke and des ute by the divorce. The fact of the matter is that any of us could live very comfortably for the rest of our live with $10-20 million. Properly invested, we could probably do it without ever even touching the principle. He's still got several times that to drown his sorrows.
Tiger is stupid because he should had taken out a pre if he knew he had a sex addiction with other women. He should had known that sooner or later it would leak considering the quan y of women he had on the side.

My outrage has nothing to do with sympathy for Tiger as individual. It has to do with a court system and normal legal practice of these settlement amounts even being discussed with a straight face.
If the Nordgren was the best golfer in the world making Tiger money, and Tiger was a former model who seeded her with some kids, and it was Tiger getting $750 million, I'd be just as disgusted.
The gender of the party, really to me, has no merit. It just seems one gender is constantly on the "I got really rich for marrying the right moron" spectrum.
Its really a coincidence and nothing more. No spouse in any relationship should ever have to pay that sort of % of worth. There should be a cap. Disclaimer: unless of course the married couple were also business partners of a lucrative business. Then an even 50/50 split is completely fair to both parties.

Elin really doesn't give a about single women being around the kids, she's just trying to make up for not being able to not SELL her story or get the emotional release from talking about it. 750m makes up for the book, film, and TV deals she won't be able to entertain AND the vacations she'll have to take while she "recovers" from the trauma. These lawyers are awesome!
Tiger would suffer far worse if she was allowed to share details of his terrible taste for busted-ass women with limited intelligence. He would never recover in the media and be able to golf the same way knowing people see him as a fake icon. Tiger did the right thing, let her have the money, let it pass for the rest of the year and begin his march toward being a Champion again.
