Yet he will make more than any NBA player in Europe. Childress, Nachbar, Kleiza, Giricek, etc. many such players that were 6th men or starters on NBA playoff teams and Spanoulis will make more than them.
He will make more than most NBA players playing in NBA make.
Funny thing if he "is not good enough to play in NBA".
Childress, Nachbar, Kleiza and Giricek (Who the s that?) were scrubs in the NBA.
You said the government is shutting the Greek league down?
Which lie are you running with today?
They were all 6th men on NBA playoff teams. Giricek even started on playoff teams in the NBA.
I guess you do not know what "scrub" means. Don't even know who Giricek is?
You are probably 12.
The Greek clubs had a meeting along with Greek League (HEBA). They decided they will pay the new taxes and not close.
They must pay 45% tax on all contracts over €100,000 euros per year.
They must pay €13,000 euros luxury tax on all contracts over €100,000 euros per year.
85% tax on all contracts over €1 million euros per year.
They must pay €3 euros luxury tax for each euro spent on all contracts over €2 million euros per season. NBA only charges dollar for dollar so this is 3 times bigger than NBA luxury tax.
The clubs and league decided finally they will accept it and not close as they first said they would. It means the budgets for all clubs will go up. Budget for Olympiacos will not be higher than any NBA club do to these new laws.

If you think Kleiza isn't a scrub then idk what to say.
he sucked so bad in the nba hes a either a greedy or too much of a pussy to come back to the nba or he sucks which everyone knows that
Not true. According to Greek media he has contract offers from Philadelphia 76ers and Washington Wizards.
6th men on NBA playoff teams are not scrubs.
scrubs like eric dampier make more money then kevin durant..doesnt mean
The NBA charges a tax if the total of all contracts goes over a certain number. It doesn't charge for individual contracts that exceed a number.
Dude. Childress was barely a starter. Nachbar, Kleiza, and Giricek all sucked. Giricek played his best years in the NBA and he was a scrub.
I look again. This is new rule in Greek League. If players makes €2 million euros or more per season then club must pay 85% tax plus must pay €3x euros luxury tax fee.
So for example Childress is supposed to make €5.5 million euros next year net (he gets a big raise in last year of his contract).
This means club must pay €5.5 million euros net for him so his salary will be €10.975 million euros next season in salary ($13.4 million dollars), plus pay three times this in luxury tax. So he would cost more than almost all clubs in Europe. This is why they hope he will opt out of contract.
PAO announced from now on they will only pay €2 million euros or more per year to Obradovic and Diamantidis from now on because of this. Olympiacos said the new rules made it impossible for them to pursue NBA players ever again.
I like NBA rule better that charges for whole team and not just individual player. Greek rules are crazy. And 85% taxes????![]()
Starters and 6th men on playoff teams are not scrubs. If you do not know what a scrub is then you have only followed NBA for at most a year.
Starters and 6th men on playoff teams are NOT "scrubs". Learn the definition, which is pathetic that people calling themself NBA fans don't even know what it means but are still using the word.
The rule is retroactive so luckily they will not have to pay the luxury tax on Childress if he stays. But for all contracts signed this year it will count. As Greek league said now they are blocked by goverment from signins any NBA top players because the rules prevent it.
How many "scrubs" earn $17.8 million?

Whew....the massive talent drain of top NBA-level to Greece will finally end.
Apparently a lot.
How stupid is the management of Oly to pay so much money to a scrub?
