Why couldn't he have been on the Hornets instead? Peja is too smart to opt out of his contract.
Who can the Spurs get at SF for the MLE now that there is a hole?
would holt venture into the tax again? he just got burned badly the last time
I think this speaks volumes, especially on the cusp of Paul Pierce opting out as well.
These players must really believe the next negotiated CBA is going to the players payscales. They're trying to get their money this summer instead of wait for next summer. We might see a considerable drop in the percentage of league profit that goes straight to the players' salaries.
He played as if he were looking for a $7M contract. But he was making double. Good riddance.
In the thread in the Spurs section, Spurs fans are pretty worried about this development because most believe that the Spurs are planning to use basically all or at least most of the MLE on Tiago Splitter, leaving them with the LLE and minimum contracts to bring in a small forward.
This is actually a bad thing for the Spurs.
at first glance this is good for spurs. But it's not, they still don't have any cap room and there aren't any very good reasonably priced small forwards out there. And would've been a nice trade chip before trade deadline
He sucks in maths.
Maximum contract he gets is 5-6 years the MLE...
So, a lose-lose situation?
That's better for the other 29 teams.![]()
lol stinky paki
, this is horrible news for the Spurs. They just lost their best trading piece and thus aren't going to be able to add a decent guard or SF unless they unload McDyess' deal (partially guaranteed for 2011-12), and that won't get them much. I can see why Jefferson did it though, because everyone has huge capspace and lots of so-so players are going to be massively overpaid.![]()
lol stinky paki
Poor old Spurs.
ha, ha.
They can still sign for the M.L.E
So how does it? Koolaid man be hittin that G-spot?
he would have been doing that playing for them anyway

The way I understand it, this is actually terrible for the Spurs. As it stood before RJ opted out, the team planned on spending the MLE worth appx 5-6 million. The MLE is only available to teams above the salary cap. The spurs are currently at 67.6 million in salary. If you subtract RJs 15 ish million you are sitting around 52.6 million. (Ya lakalova, I know that math was hard) Depending on where the cap ends up, 56 or less, the Spurs are actually going to have alot LESS money to spend. So they get out of a 15 million dollar contract but lose financial mobility. Plus, now they have no SF. Sucks for them.
Na dude, they still have bird rights to him so his contract figure still counts on their payroll unless they renounce their bird rights. They still have the MLE and the LLE.
