Well, my dad is getting that phone when it comes out...wish I had waited before I bought the Incredible...but I can still return it...
I'm thinking about returning the Incredible while I still can and just getting that phone, but I'm not quite sure yet.

This looks nice, I sucks that it doesn't have 4g, but it couldn't at this time anyway. I love the idea of DLNA compliance, though I am unsure that I could see using that for anything other than to show off that capability.

Basically opens up the phone so you can do whatever the you want to it...

Rooting allows access to the phones source code. It allows you to download certain programs which don't work on unrouted phones, and also to reprogram the phone if you wish and have the ability to do so.

Is rooting your phone gonna make sprint unhappy? or will it make the phone harder to use?
Let's just say that rooting your phone is like modding up your car...don't let the maker know you did it..or say bye bye to your warranty...if something were to go wrong...you would be wise to reset everything back to factory settings before taking it in to see what's wrong...
I wouldn't root it unless you knew what you were doing. If you like the phone as is stick with it.

I'm on the fence about this phone, Sprint says I get 150 off because they love me, that's no joke. The site actually says that, My contract isn't up for another year.
I have and love my Blackberry Tour, and love the blackberry IM service. I just don't know about using a on screen keyboard. I had a Instinct before my Tour and hated typing on it. The 10 bucks more also turns me off and then on top of that I'm gonna be really tempted to used the $30 more to add wifi hot spot to it. It will add up fast, I already have 4 phones and hate my bill now.
i'm so sick of my blackberry i almost went out and bought the new iphone yesterday and was going to sign up with at&t until they told me i'd have to wait 10 days until i would receive the phone... so i came back here yesterday and went through this thread, checked the htc site and went to sprint's site about this phone and i am sure i'd love to have this phone... only problem is, i don't think i'm anywhere close to being up for a new phone with my contract and thus i'd have to s out like $500 alone just for the phone, that i don't wanna do. i hate my blackberry!
10 days isn't too bad, isn't the Evo hard to find now also?
I waited for 5 days. But that was a week after it came out. I had to reserve it. Dunno about the wait now....dunno why there would be. I mean don't get me wrong its a great phone. Just iPhone has a lot of advertising and "popularity" to go with it.
The sprint online store says "Sorry, this device is so hot we can’t keep it on our virtual shelves." on the Evo.
BTW, how is the battery for the users who have it? I keep reading bad things on it. I take my Blackberry off the charger for up to 12 hours before I can charge it. I keep the screen dim but I facebook, and read news and visit ST allot and it last. Will a Evo last?

For me battery life is not good. Typical work day for me (when I'm not busy lol)I surf web and text and use Pandora. After 6 hours I see yellow in the battery bar...
My first phone in 3 yrs so dunno how to compare it to other phones made this year.
I would since i want apps that won't work unless the phone is rooted. But eh don't like messing with things when they are not broken.
Frenzy, this is literally the easiest thing you can do. Get on your phone, go to http://unrevoked.com/m/
It will say tap to download, do so, it is less than half a meg, it will dl quickly to your sd card, then you just use a file manager to open it and viola you are rooted.
It also works for the HERO which is why I know this. I have already set up the hero to be a wifi hotspot, set the clock on my cpu (low when the screen is off to save battery, high when its on for performance), and one or two other things. All of this in about an hour. Its freakin great!
