proof positive James Dolan is beyond stupid..
I'm reading similar comments. I just want to know from people with this sentiment what the Knicks should do.

They know LeBron, Wade, Bosh, and Joe Johnson aren't coming. They see Rudy Gay get a max contract. They see scrub big men like Gooden and Amir Johnson get sizable deals.

Giving Amare a max deal might be stupid, but what are their alternatives? Sit on the money?

You're right they have a ton of cap space and they have to spend it somewhere to improve themselves, but they have to be kicking themselves if the realization is in that Amare is the best they are going to do. I don't need to highlight his limitations we all know what they are. He's not someone they can build around. They'll go from a 20 win team to a 35 win team if they are lucky..

But yes they have to spend the money somewhere. I mainly said that about Dolan because i live in NY and really hate Dolan. Dude gets bashed by the NY papers every week for one thing or another..

That's an honest response but it doesn't answer my question.

What alternative move could the Knicks make that wouldn't prove Dolan is "beyond stupid?"

The way I see it, if Amare is the best alternative, it doesn't prove Dolan is stupid. It proves the Knicks had no better alternative.

I wouldn't take that s sucking dog if he paid the Suns 12,000,000 a year to play for them.

Btw this could end up great for the Knicks, those counting them outa the Lebron sweepstakes are foolish. Right now they're the one option for him that already has a proven max player committed. Amare provides a pick and roll option way better than anything Lebron has ever had, and D'antoni provides awesome stat inflation. Taking the marquee free agent they could get immediately could prove very worthwhile for them.

That'd be cool IMO.....the best thing to watch would be Wade vs. Lebron where one has Bosh and the other has Amare.

The teams in the West can't really do anything..only Dallas and maybe Houston have the ability to make a big trade right now, we'll see what they do..it's tough to compete with collusion TBH..

This just goes over what i said. Yes Amare is the best option they might have left and yes IMO Dolan is beyond stupid for the way he has run the team since he has been in charge. He is one of the most arrogant and incompetant owners in all of sports. This guy let Isiah run the knicks like they were his own personal play-pen..

this is what i dont get with the knicks, theres been talk of them pullin Sign n trades scenarios...

the problem is which other team would take on there trash of players? just to help them land lebron, bosh or whoever they are targeting, doesnt make sense...

those fkn teams who look like they wont be competing for a playoff spot, why not just stay under the cap and play out the season and earn that $2m profit the league admin hands out from the luxury tax revenue?
