It's not suppose to be taken serious, man. You go to the movies and suspend all thoughts of reality and try to enjoy someone's work of fiction.

Suspending your disbelief (that's the term you are implying) can only go so far, it doesn't cover ty acting, ty writing, and ty dialog, from an even tier source material

My main concern with these books and movies is that indeed there are many teenage girls who do think it is romantic (the only reason for the hysteria) and who are unfortunately forming views on what a relationship should be like from their fantasies about being Bella.

Oh, so you must be referring to the part about the director. Well, the guy also directed 30 Days of Night, which was half-decent as far as vampire flicks go. Not great by any means, but better than some. Perhaps it would have been more to your liking had I stated, "... who has some experience within the creature genre."
