No, I do think we'd have had a better chance though. This German team is outstanding. They had weaknesses that could have been exploited, obviously we completely failed to do that. I think an Argie team with some semblance of organization would have posed a bigger problem.
Either way, I'm not taking anything away from this German team. They play incredible football.
It was 4-0
Oh and Germany did have the better team on paper too.
congrats to germany. they were able to score first (even though i think they were very lucky, muller barely touched it and even though it went straight to the goalie he didnt react), and they were patient in defense and effective on the counter. the 4-0 score doesnt reflect the reality of the match because argentina had a long stretch of possession where they should have been able to tie it up. we just had horrible shooting, the only shot with any power to it went off mertesackers face.
that said, a big you to the ref. there were several challenges from behind and two kicks to the knee (with the ball on the ground) that should have been yellows. and they were all during that stretch that argentina was attacking and dominating the play. same with holland yesterday. our forwards were forced to play the ball quick because they werent getting any whistles, and the germans were content to break up attacks with fouls knowing they wouldnt get more than a caution.
in the end our inability to shoot better did us in. as for maradona, I think he should have made his subs earlier, other than that I dont have a problem with how he managed the game. we lost because we gave away an easy goal 3 minutes in and lacked the teeth to tie it up. its mostly the players fault, but its hard to get too upset when you consider most of them are under 25.
Good question. I think it's glorious.
Germany is legit..I have them winning it all.
yeah, whatever you say
This is so full of win
LOL What? GTFO
what kind of organization are you looking for manumaniac? are you saying you wanted the team to play 4-4-2 and wait for a mistake? that you want to play with a playmaker dominating the ball (your friend riquelme perhaps)? the first goal wasnt for lack of organization. and the inability to score... do you really think playing a post offense would have been more effective?
so when khedira kicks a player's knee its not a yellow? when klose tramples mascherano from behind its not a yellow? when pigbreeder kicks di maria's ankle from behind its not a yellow? when podolski grabs tevez by the shoulders and throws him down its not a yellow?
That wouldn't have changed the outcome of the game.
Dude, it wasnt the ref.
The ref could have give plenty of yellows to argentina for some fouls, and yes also 1-2 more to mascherano.
I say sticking with the diamond was a fault, germany was often dominating the midfield and argentina attacked way too late and gave them way too much space.
Where are ze other Germans from this forum? How is Germany, are people going crazy on the streets? Or is it quiet?
just came home from public viewing (diffrent meaning in europe).
i think most of us are still dancing on the streets![]()
lmao @ "germans going crazy on the streets". They are ing german.
Maybe some of them were, but definitely not the reasons why we lost. You've got to give major props to the germans, they ing killed us dagger after dagger.
Anyways, I hate that ing squid.. if it was argentinian it would already be president
Cool![]()
I saw some footage from Berlin. I thought I heared that half a million people watching in the city centre.![]()
we are able to party. it is just more organized and less cheerful than in other countries, therefor you are not able to realize that we are partying![]()
Eeh maybe Germans and Dutch too are known for having a quiet temper or no temper at all. But believe me, they know how to party and know how to go crazy, especially in times like these with success on world cups. It's just a national crazyness![]()
i know.![]()
lol, 2006 was the biggest party ever, everyone from every country told it was the best WC party ever.
Berlin public viewing with 500000 people today
Dude, I was in Zurich when Switzerland won against Spain in the qualifier round - the riot police had to intervene...
And let me tell you The Germans are much more emotional than the Swiss
You should see the Audi sponsored public viewing area at the Munich airport. It's a thing of beauty.
