Cain is a great fight but the problem is Brock is showing against Mir and now Shane that once he gets the takedown the fight is over.. He's just so strong on the ground..
Cain will not tap, he will go out with his lights out. You gotta know Cain and his handlers will be training mostly for worst case scenarios, time to start benching buddy!

I don't mind the trash-talking. I want the sport to be entertaining as long as it is not rigged. I just assumed Brock was playing up a role for more viewers. Plus, he fought off the Grim Reaper so I can't help but be happy to see him fighting again.

Sonnen is a funny mofo when he talks trash; he doesn't hold back. I will no doubt catch that fight against Andersen. The more trash someone talks the sweeter it is to watch them a) get their ass beat or b) actually back it up against the champ. It's win-win for the viewer.

It was kind of iffy seeing all of those wwf/wwe wrestlers in the crowd, but Austin was probably there more to promote Expendables, and Rock/Goldberg are cool as outside of wrestling so it's all good.

Exactly, which is why I will sig bet that Cain will NOT TAP for any reason. He will have to be unconscious!

I expect the fight to go a while. Cain has speed, good striking and an amazing gas tank but watching Cain's fights with Kongo and Rothwell tell me his ground and pound will not hurt Brock at all. Shane has the most power in the UFC, i don't see how anyone can say otherwise and Brock took as much as Shane could dish out and came back to choke his ass out.. I see Brock getting the takedown and finish around Round 3..

It is quite funny that in the year 2010 people are complaining that a trashtalking fighter is bad for the sport in which he fights.

    Talk about re ed.
I think of Mir before I think of Brock.

I'm not a huge MMA fan but Lesnar looked positively amateurish when he backpedaled with his head down and hands in a completely non threatening/coverup position in his standup.

Reminded me of when Rahman stuck his hands out like a zombie/mummy against lewis in their rematch. When your hands are positioned solely for defense like that the other guy can just tee off and not even have to worry about anything coming back at him.

Here I thought it was because Brock was hurt and there wasn't much else he could but hang on and ride the tidal wave of punches through (which he did). The idea that he was amateurish fighter never occurred.

Brock's striking is the worst part of his game for sure. His wrestling and ground game from top position has gotten great. When he fought Herring, he struggled with position and landing big shots, Randy same thing. But his last 2 against Mir and Carwin he is finishing guys on the ground fast. But his striking needs a lot of work..

Brock is very immature on the feet. Lets see what happens after the Werdum fight, but Overeem seems to have the size and striking to give Brock a lot of trouble.

Alistar is a much bigger man than Brock. 2 inches taller and same weight. Also is a world class Kickboxer and has a great submission game. If he can keep it on the feet, it is probably a bigger mismatch than Carwin was. I'd also like to see what he can do from his guard, which makes his fight with Werdum so interesting. Dont know if he will leap to the UFC. That decision wil be up to him and if he wants to pee in a cup..

I agree, but it's something that's plauged him from the start. He s s up like a turtle, and this time he had good reason to do it because Shane punches pretty damn hard. He does it by habit, but you can imagine the shock to make him back pedal against the fence. Other than striking/strike defence, Brock could run circles around most guys for 5 rounds.

I honestly don't think Overeem has as good a chance against Brock as Shane. Shane vs Overeem would be really exciting tho.

We're not even talking about Fedor anymore

PS: To respond a bit to Dallas's points, I just don't think Overeem's explosive enough to pose more than a size threat. Something tells me Brock can take leg kicks too.

The man has fought a total of 6 fights, remember. Let's give him at least 8 or 9 before we criticize him too harshly.

    The fight will never happen

This was the first time Brock was tested, had to be tested, was forced to fight standing. They need to work with him not on a striking but exchanging punches and moving

I think he's taller, but Brock fights at a heavier weight.

Allistar is two inches taller and fights 12 pounds less, but its fair to say Brock's size would not be a factor..

There are a good amount of guys that can be at or around Brock's size, but none of them have his bull strength or freak athleticism which is what separates them.

Example: Carwin and Brock were almost identical in height/weight but Brock was way stronger and had conditioning to spare.

On the ground, no one is going to beat Brock.

Oh and Cain would tap. Pride or not sometimes you get caught in something and you will tap.
