Air Alamo is running a series of polls to have their readers pick the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd All-time, All-Spurs teams. Right now they are working on picking point guards. Looks like Tony's in the lead with Avery in second and Johnny Moore and James Silas battling for third.
Here's the link if you want to vote:

oh, and they stupidly left Mike Gale off of the list, so take this poll for what it's worth
timmy,robinson,manu,blair,vinny,avery,devin,s jax,

no rasho? fail
no horry? epic fail
Silas is currently running third behind Avery. He's in a tight race with Moore though.

IIRC, these are the only spurs who made the top 100 in bill simmons book. maybe robertson or silas were there, but not sure. they were definitely the top 3 spurs.
manu is prob. my sg
point guard - maybe tony, but not so sure, since i have not seen the early spurs point guards, and none of them made a big name for themselves so that younger generations can go - yeah, that guy def. played for the spurs.
Agreed, Except Id Have Tony Starting Over Avery....
"Captain Late"! Imagine the clutchness of a team that featured Manu, Silas, and Horry!

C - Robinson, Gilmore, Kenon
PF - Duncan, mings, Horry
SF - Elliott, Bowen, Mitc
SG - Gervin, Manu, Robertson
PG - Parker, Moore, Johnson
You have to have Parker and Johnson on there, cause they brought us rings. It was tough to choose between Moore and Silas. However, I decided to go look up the numbers just now. While a few moments ago I would have picked Silas, the numbers give the edge to Moore. Not only did he score in double figures for most of the 80s, he also doubled and even tripled the assist totals of James Silas on a year by year basis. So Moore is one of the 3 PGs on my team
I know Kenon was a PF, but he can be our 3rd team Center. Also, I picked Horry over Rodman, cause of results. Rodman was a great rebounder and defender, but he didn't deliver the OBrien. Horry delivered the OBrien. In fact, if not for Horry's heroics in game 5 in 05, the Pistons most likely win that Championship.
If you want to go super defensive.....Robinson, Duncan, Bowen, Elliott, Robertson. I dare teams to score on us.....
If you want to go super offensive....Robinson, mings, Mitc , Gervin, Parker.....I dare teams to shut us down.....

I hope you guys vote when the SG, SF, PF, and C positions come up. At one point Doc Rivers was dangerously close to 3rd spot in our poll.
PG - Jason Kidd
SG - Leandro Barbosa
SF - J.R. Smith
PF - Luis Scola
C - Shaquille O'Neal
Willie Anderson is an interesting choice....I personally could not pick him since I had 3 SGs already in Gervin, Manu, and Alvin. Even then, I still would not pick him over Mike Mitc .
How about:
PG - Speedy Claxton
SG - James White
SF - Malik Hairston
PF - Pops Mensah-Bonsu
C - Ian Mahinmi
I have a fondness for Willie that supersedes logic.
I hear ya.....I often wonder how good he could have been if his wheels wouldnt have been so bad
James Gist!

Tony Parker

PG - James Gist
SG - James Gist
SF - James Gist
PF - James Gist
C - Rod Strickland - just to keep The Gist honest ie keep him from passing the ball
Hard to say. His effectiveness going to the rim was definitely hampered, but he was a pretty good shooter, not a lot of range, but decent. He didn't have a lot of really healthy years, but he was pretty damn good in his prime.
If he was healthy, I would put him over Mitc easily. However, it was hard to leave Kenon and Mitc off my list.
The All Butthurt team
PG Barbosa
SG Giricek
SF Salmons
PF Scola
C Mahinmi
reserves
Mensah-bonbon
Flight
Gist
Sorry y'all, but Gervin goes to the 3 and Manu to the 2.
I love Sean and he's was a damn good player but Dave, Ice and the Big 3 are your All-Time starting-5.
I believe we're doing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd team all Spurs. So we'll select 3 people at each position.
