I feel bad for the Nets. They came up craps big time.
Plus, no one would offer Bonner that money more than likely. Spurs should have told Matt to go get an offer and bring it back.

Can't say I didn't see it coming... right now they're a lame-duck team with a new owner, that's supposed to move somewhere else in the next couple of years... too many unknowns at this point.
Not me. Petro is a bum.
I hate the Bonner signing but if it's something like $15M/4 years, Spurs coudl have paid him his market value. Petro got 10/3, Warrick 18/4, Frye 5/30, Gooden 5/32 and Amir Johnson 5/35. We will see what will exactly be Bonner's deal but it could be not worse than most of this summer deals.

Luther Head going to New Orleans, agent Mark Bartelstein says. Head to receive two-year, $2.3 million deal with player option for Year 2
Johan petro got 10 million for 3 years??!!? Seriously?
Bonner > Petro. Mahinmi > Petro. Finley > Petro. HTF did he get $10 million?
Seriously, Mahinmi's agent better get him at least $5 million in this market.
Amir and Gooden were overpaid big time, IMO. But they're all also on the good side of 30, unlike Bonner. Except with Gooden, at 29 y/o, they're not one trick ponies and there's upside to them. You know what you're getting with Matty.
And yeah, Petro has been a bum, but he's a legit 7 foot body you can toss in the paint, and at 24 y/o his better years should be in front of him (if he ever tries hard enough).
Have you heard anything about Ian?
Almost brings back memories of Jerome James. I guess if you're a 7-footer who's ever played for the Sonics then your value increases by at least $5m over market...
Petro is lazy in ways that would make Diaw look like an ADD-stricken hyperactive guy.
I hope Mahinmi gets good money after that, or his agent is officially one of the worst out there.
i think the bonner signing means the end of ian on the spurs.
I really cannot see the spurs giving him a 5m/yr contract
Saw that and was tempted to start a "Better Shooter Than Mason Gets Crappy Deal in NOLA"
I want to see what kind of deal Mason gets after that pathetic season. 2 years/4 mil is all id be willing to spend on that pos
Statement pulled completely out of your ass. In the market we're in its pretty safe to say we have no idea who's getting offered what and where. I think there has to be at least a solid chance Bonner got offers elsewhere.
Supposedly Chicago and Dallas were interested. That said, I don't know they had the opportunity to run any kind of numbers there.
Yeah, it's pulled completely out of my ass. Because Bonner is so young and has proven so much in the playoffs there would be a market for him.
Hence why I said "more than likely". That logic is just as sound as your "in this market" logic. Which is why I said they should have let Bonner get an offer. Just because there are some bad contracts given out does not mean Bonner gets one.
Even RJ is stuck right now.
Channing Frye got pretty much the whole MLE. Just remember that. Channing Frye.
I think its safe that say that nearly every big man contract outside of Bosh this off season has been a surprise. I think its very likely a guy like Bonner got offers in the range the Spurs signed him for.
This doesn't make me happy about the signing, but when you look at the context of the entire NBA it probably shouldn't have shocked us as much as it did.
Bonner could have easily gotten 3 mil/yr somewhere else. Dallas, Denver, Chicago were some that were rumored to be interested.
RJ isn't isn't a big man. You can say let Bonner get an offer but you don't know if he did or didn't. You're just completely making things up.
Unless you got a source like Eric B, then I'm not sure how you know if he did or didn't get an offer. (And if you do have a source like Tpark and he's telling you that he didn't get an offer then Bonner probably got lots of them)
Channing Frye actually hit playoff shots and helped his team beat the Spurs.
Even if it is very likely Bonner gets an offer in the range the Spurs offered him, then they should have taken that chance and let him get another offer before they signed him if the numbers are true.
I don't see it as likely at all that Bonner gets an offer any bigger than the Spurs. There is not a large market for him.
Denver and New York were also reportedly showing interest.
The semantics game. I am just stating logical opinion, just like your "in this market" theory.
Also, everyone has freaked out about the length but given the Spurs history I think its fairly likely some of those last years are either not fully guaranteed or team options.
Anybody heard anything about Mason and Bogans? Like an offer or something?
I'm betting on RMJ ending up in Miami for the minimum.
