NVE was pretty nauseating to watch. Drew Gooden has been passed around so much that it feels like he played with us last decade.

    Finley again? Read page 2!

Fin was fine for the first two years - I don't understand why he's copping a pasting.

van exel 'cause he played over udrih, so destroyng a possible long term asset for our team (at least as a back up) and Butler 'cause he came here at the expense of a scola signing.

Frankly, two wrong/horrible choices by our f.o. and coaching staff...

Damn, you got Spurs jerseys for Easter? lol... What's Christmas like? Would your family consider adopting a 24 year old?

I actually think the team with Derek Anderson was one of the Spurs' most talented starting lineups. I blame that ass-clown Juwan Howard for injuring Derek in that playoff series with the Mavs. We got past the Mavs, but Derek was fairly useless in the next series against the Lakers. You can't recover from a separated shoulder that quickly.
A starting lineup with Danny Ferry and Terry Porter in it cannot be considered talented. Not to mention DA being an RMJ level defensive player. DA might have been enough to get the Spurs game 2 of that 01 WCF, but I think that's the only one they could have gotten from that Laker team. Then again, Kobe dropped 38 a game on DA that regular season, so maybe it would have been a sweep still.

Startin from a final's game in 2005...before that he played very very good games, and aside of that he didn't deserve to be relegated on the bench in favor of a (ex)player like Van Exel was...

Udrih is not and probably never will be a champion...but he's a legitimate nba player now and for years to come, and quite always gave a more than decent production for an over the 20th draft choice as a back up and, for parker's injured games, also as a starter.

Nah man, I have an excuse for every year as to why the Spurs didn't win and that was all Juwon Howards fault.... If we would won game 2 we would get our momentum back and take one in LA then take 2 of the next 3 then beat Philly. Duh.

Beno Udrih is right under DA on my list; ungrateful . Turkoglu also has to be there, for single-handedly blowing the Spurs shot at a repeat in '04.

How did turkey blow it? I remember him as cool.....I got a poster of him after game 2 vs Griz...I only had it up for like a month, though. I also remember him nailing a game winner vs Indy

and the reason we aint repeat in 04 is because of whoever let .4 happen....thats my excuse for that year

Vinny Del Negro. If the Spurs had a better starting SG in the mid 90's they could have won their 1st championship. He always choked so hard in the playoffs.
    VDN?
since the www wasnt great at that time and I was pretty isolated here in germany, I got the idea, that he (and AJ) where kind of fan favourites.

I'd go with Rodman, but if it wasnt for him, I probably wouldnt be a Spurs fan...German TV showed a lot of Spurs games, just because of him...I couldnt stand him, but liked DR and Elliott so much!

So I have to go with Van Exel and Gooden.

    Never liked then, nervel will!

The women of San Antonio all wanted to rim him, but other than that, no one was disappointed when Mario Elie was brought in to cast his worthless ass out of San Antonio for good.

As much as I hate Del Negro, I could never go that far. He could have been an ok bench player in limited minutes, but as a starter he was a nightmare. On the other hand, Bonner should never set foot on the floor unless someone tears an ACL or the score margin is at least 30 points one way or the other.

    1) I meant the "womes" part!

    2) I'm not a big Bonner hater and what you wrote about Vinny should suit Matt to a large degree! I think any team needs a stretch 4 and if we can't get Horry, I'll take Bonner. FROM THE BENCH! Problem with him: He didnt show up for any Playoffs. A big problem!

I never considered Horry a stretch 4. I always thought of him as a really solid all-around player who could also hit threes. Horry was useful because he could play great interior defense, he was a good rebounder, and he has a basketball IQ that's off the charts (he's always in the right place). His three-point shooting was just icing on the cake.

yeah , but what do you call a role playing PF, that has no postgame but 3pt range?

he probably was the best stretch 4 ever (unless you call Dirk one...something I'm against at the moment, coz he has to mach star und not enough roleplayer in him)

but dont let us talk about this!...the thread is about something else.

Jackie Butler. If he had never worn a Spurs jersey, we will never need to dump his salary along with Scola's rights.
