    Well duh.

Republicans could win control of the House of Representatives in elections in November, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs acknowledged on Sunday.

"There is no doubt there are enough seats at play that could cause Republicans to gain control, there is no doubt about that,"

Gibbs told NBC's "Meet the Press" talk show when asked whether the Democrats would maintain their majority in the House.

All 435 seats in the House are up for grabs in the

November 2 election as well as 36 of the 100 seats in the Senate.

President Barack Obama will have a tougher time pushing his political agenda through Congress if Republicans make big gains in November and wipe out Democratic majorities in both the Senate and the House.

In the run-up to the vote,

Obama is trying to convince impatient Americans that his economic policies are working and that improvements will take time.

"We understand people are frustrated, everybody is frustrated," Gibbs said. "Look, the president is frustrated that we haven't seen greater recovery efforts, but that doesn't stop us from doing what we know is right, ins uting the policies that we know will bring the country back," he added.

Obama and his fellow Democrats are grappling with a range of problems and many political analysts see the election as a national referendum on his policies.

The economy is struggling and unemployment has hovered at just below 10 percent. The war in Afghanistan is not going well. And the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has prompted criticism that Obama's response was slow, disorganized and too easy on BP Plc.

A Gallup poll released on July 7 showed that 38 percent of independent voters approve of the job Obama is doing, compared with 81 percent of Democratic voters and only 12 percent of Republicans. Obama's overall approval rating is 46 percent.

A year ago, Obama's approval rating among independents was 56 percent.

I would think if the republicans promise to restore the Bush tax cuts for 2011 if enough are elected, it could be a serious landslide. Not hard for them to point out how much pore people will pay for the 2011 tax year if they are allowed top expire.

The Whit House is already planning to push ALL of their leftist agenda through on the lame duck session. Their argument with the defeated congressmen will be that they already lost the election and if they want to have any political future at all they better vote for Obama's agenda. The administration has loads of nice jobs/perks to trade and they can stay in Washington and still be players.

You would think they would win control. It would be pretty damning on the party if they do not.

Dems started with super majorities. Repubs couldn't block anything.

I NEVER said the Dems were always or ever good. I find the Dems less and useless as a even dumb doorstop against the Repugs attack on America.

But I know the Repugs have done all positive for the country, and tons of negative to the country. And none of you can refute that.

Envy or guilt. They're either mad that others succeed when they haven't or they are angry others didn't succeed when they have.

    Take responsibility for your life.

Let others take responsibility for theirs.

Someone will always be richer than you are.

Someone will always be poorer than you are.

No reason to go around angry all he time. Life is too short.

Normal republicans are as bad, or worse than democrats.

Look for GOP candidates endorsed by Ron Paul for the real deal. Also candidates endorsed by the Campaign for Liberty, the Republican Liberty Caucus, or the Tea Party are likely to be good.

The real issue is not tax cuts, it is auditing the Fed.

    It isn't?

I mean, I personally said plenty of times I hope the Republicans win control of Congress. But if they do not, after all the supposed hate of the population towards Obama policies, who's to blame for not capitalizing on it?

I totally agree with your opinion, but on a general level. To post it as a note soley toward "progressives" on this board and/or in real life is quite disingenuous and incredibly shortsighted. The GOP loves appealing to their base with promises to invade the personal freedom people have in their private lives such as NO gay marriage, NO sodomy (that means nothing else between a man and a woman except in pussy), and NO porn/strip clubs. I know, not as important as tax-cuts, but really...when the platform is always based on "moral" laws and , the last thing you need to be concerned about is taxes. It's okay for big business to go unregulated, but the citizens themselves can't take responsibility for what they do behind closed doors and have privacy? That is intellectually dishonest, and if it came down to losing an extra few hundred a year in taxes or cheating my neighbors out of any liberty...it's not a difficult choice to make based on platforms.

the Dems too, they are weenies, but I don't see how anyone can support the GOP and hope they come to rescue the country after they were the ones that ed it up to begin with. These politicians don't lose sleep over the issues facing the citizens, they have their money and health insurance for which they are en led to as servants of the people. I just wish they'd actually earn it.

The wing-nuts have been attacking since Nov. 2010 with the help of the M$M, so it's no surprise independents, the most uninformed American voter, have bought into the GOP gloom-and-doom about the deficit and unemployment....this is the GOP's only chance to win one of the houses in Congress because that won't be an issue in 2012 when the economy has has more of a chance to recover after 8 years of GOP negligence....
