In terms of damage done to a team, I just don't see how you could say anybody but Rodman. Other players might have been busts, or weren't clutch enough, but nobody else actively worked to sabotage a team like Rodman did.

A close second has to be Bob Hill for putting up with Rodman's . If Pop had been coach then, Rodman would have either fallen in line or been Mercerized.

Hedo, Bonner, etc hurt the team by not being mentally tough enough; but there's a big difference between not being good enough and not giving a .

Steve Smith- very overrated when he came to the spurs. Some guys are putting players on here that did not even play much or not much was expected from them. It is the starters who played a bigger impact to the success or lack of success so players like Smith and Rodman and Del Negro those guys should come ahead of the end of bench type players.

BTW, anyone that has Glenn Robinson on their list is forgetting about that championship that he contributed to. The Spurs had a lot of issues with scoring droughts, and Robinson could come in at any time and hit three or four jumpers in a row and get the team back on track.

Big Dog came in the 2nd quarter of the 2nd game (IIRC) of the 05 Finals with the Spurs looking like and absolutely needing a spark. He had one breakaway and assisted on another couple plays that got the Spurs rolling, and they never looked back to turn that game into the 2nd of four blowouts in the series.

    Major props to Big Dog.

Tony Massenburg also came in and provided some decent punch for a while there, too.

Charles Smith, JR Reid, and every Bozo they tried to pair up with one of the most dominant and greatest centers of all-time, had he had any help inside, and a decent SG ( ing Vinny pussy), we'd have at least two other les in S.A.

Vinny Del Negro, Charles Smith, JR Reid, Rod Strickland (played fine, but I'll never forgive that pass in Portland), Samaki Walker, Lloyd Daniels, the entire bench from 91-96, Jerry Tarkanian (not a player, but choke on that towel you - ), Moses Malone (just because a great player like that should not have gone out the way he did on our bench), Carl Herrera, Dominique Wilkens (nice idea, but once Robinson went down, took 20 shots game... what is the point of him being here if we weren't doing anything, why not trade)...

And one more time... VINNY DEL NEGRO!!! I swear, with TD dominating as a rookie, Robinson still dominating, WTF is he doing on our team starting at SG????? ! What happened as soon as we shipped his sorry ass out the door? We won our first le. Coincidence???? I THINK NOT!!!!

    OK, Done!

Now there is somebody who is carrying some serious long-term grudges. I like it.

Being a fan isn't just about cheering for your team. It's about hating anyone who ever got in the way of a championship. With a passion, and long after they have faded into obscurity.

His constant distractions off the court carried onto it. David Robinson wasn't a strong enough leader to combat Rodman's distractions and Bob Hill never took control. Rodman's distractions eventually made their way on the court and the Spurs couldn't recover.

If Rodman had come on today, Pop would have had him fall in line and Duncan would have shown him how no player was bigger than the team.

When Rodman went to the Bulls, Jordan made him fall in line and all Rodman did was help the team to a 3peat. Rodman was a of a talent but a major headcase.

Robinson did a lot to cool down a red-hot Pistons team in game 1 of the Finals. In 6 minutes, he had 3 blocks and really helped to shut down a team that had just jumped to a 17-4 lead. I can't believe any Spurs fan would disrespect Big Dog after that.

Robinson led by example and Rodman was too stupid to follow. You could tell that Dave didn't like Dennis at all. Rodman was a complete and total embarrassment. His outbursts were like a child craving attention, good or bad, and Hill fed right into it. David Robinson is a saint for putting up with that lunatic. He should have knocked his ass out.

van exel...and Butler 'cause he came here at the expense of a scola signing.

No, we signed Jackie Butler from the Knicks. It was b/c he stunk up the place that we gave him and his horrible contract, along with Scola, to the Rockets.

Without Danny Ferry the Spurs would have gone in an 0-2 hole to Phoenix in the 03 first round, and likely lost. He had 10 big rebounds filling in for the injured David Robinson and suspended Kevin Willis in a must-win after the team blew game 1. It was one of the most important showings by a role-player in franchise history.

Have trouble getting mad about players on squads that had no chance of contending, but I'll echo ElNono with R. Mercer -- and Charlie Ward was one of the most useless additions ever. , throw in Anthony Carter.

That '04 team was so frustrating.

I also don't know that bringing in Mighty Mouse and Van Exel at the end of their careers was really in our best interests. Pop the point-guard fan-boy seems to occasionally eclipse Pop the coach.
