Here are the other bids. Check out the stadiums of the Qatar bid

    Netherlands - Belgium bid: http://www.thebid.org/?lang=nl
    Qatar bid: http://www.qatar2022bid.com/
    Australia bid: http://www.australia2018-2022.com.au/
    Portugal and Spain: http://www.candidaturaiberica.com/
    Russia bid : http://www.russia2018-2022.com/
    England bid: http://www.thefa.com/
England will get the 2018 bid, and the US will get the 2022 bid. I feel about 90% certain of this.

If any European team gets 2018, then the US chances at 2022 skyrocket. They'd be up against Australia and Qatar only, which are both interesting but you've got to follow the money. '94 is still the most attended and highest $ grossing WC in history.

With that said, immigration could be a reason US doesn't get the bid, especially if more states go the Arizona route.

Qatar seems to me like one of the worst places you could have a Cup because it would be so inaccessible.

    No?

Doha Airport will be expanded the next year and will be able to to handle up to 50-60 millionen passengers (thats London/Paris/Frankfurt size).

Dubai is 250km away and 2022 will be Dubai World Central International the biggest airport in the world and a major worldwide hub.

In Quatar the Deutsche Bahn is building since last year a complete new train- and metro system, also connecting the neighour countries.

My post had nothing to do with infrastructure.

But let me guess, Qatar will have the atmosphere you were speaking of earlier, right?

Not hard to do either. When I lived in downtown São Paulo, it only took a 5 min drive to end up in a hole, if you didn't know where you're going. Not much different than Buenos Aires in that aspect... lol

No man, for sure. Love my country and my city, but the ing crime is such a huge problem there, and the way the favelas keep expanding is scary. I seriously hope they address that massive problem for the WC, and especially for the olympics since it'll be all in Rio

Olympics will be anyway the games of the rich south rio.

Athlets, media etc will anyway stay all in Barra, Beachvolleyball at Copacabana and around Maracana area they will anyway put a fence like at the US-mexican border. Will be funny how they wanna solve the safety issues around that area with the complexo alemao like 1-2km away

Then a nice concret wall along the linha amarela and should be ok

I guess the taxi drivers are allready jacking off, they can rip off like in paradies...

lol man, I'm not worried about the media and the athletes. I'm worried about the goddamn tourists and the city's reputation cuz of the dumb tourists and they'll get themselves into lol. You pretty much seem to have it covered though, assuming you've lived there before?

lol @ the taxi drivers too, along with the goddamn people selling at the markets. fuuuck, poor tourists, they gonna get played so badly. Oh well, I don't particularly care cuz I'll be staying at my aunt's house in Barra, goddamn 6 minute walk to Barra beach and not too long of a drive to Barra Shopping... and of course, the clubs and the ladies

ing sipping on some beers on the beach during the day, some football during the afternoon, and clubbing during the night for a month, talk about a goddamn perfect vacation

Was 3 times in rio, last time this march for 3 weeks at copacabana when my GF had a intern training at the petrobras hq.

I really think they will fence the whole maracana area. Entrance just with ticket. Safety and otherwise you would have thousands of people flying around there selling and tourists barely could move. And the shuttle busses from Barra and Copa probably straight ending into the area.

Im more worried for the cup when England play in Rio and there are 30000-40000 drunken british fans walking aorund the city. Poor bas s. And in a robbing they probably even try to fight then...

Taxi drivers suck, specially arriving at the airports. Even together with my GF they still try first the Gringo prize Thats why i also let her ask every damn prize on a market or store anyway.

Didnt test Barra beach, but i read its sometimes too wild to swim? At least probably less bosta swapping over from the Guanabara bay

Edit: I can see allready some tourists:"Oh Complexo alemao, lets check it out, maybe they have there some Bratwurst and Strudel"
