Yeah it would def help Splitter to pair him with Shaquille O'Neal. Same goes for Anderson and Allen Iverson. Makes total sense.
What have the Spurs got to lose. If they can get all 3 on the cheap why not. Shaq wants his 5th ring, Iverson wants a ring and McGrady wants to at least see what it's like to get out of the first round of the playoffs. It would really help with Splitter's and Anderson's development to surround them with savvy vets.![]()

Shaq and T-Mac might have something left in the tank. If you can sign them for vets min then ya do it. Iverson nooooo.
The only one that makes any sense is McGrady because he can shoot/score, plays at a position of need and can be had for low value relative to his talent level due to the age and injury history. The Spurs also like players that do well against them...and who could forget 13 in 38 seconds?!?
Sounds like that's what the Heat need to do in order address their depth issues and own the NBA
They're like old es that used to be hot
They're still somewhat attractive but you don't wanna with them
Too bad T-Mac can't do this anymore.
You can't sign Allen Iverson twice.
I would be okay with signing McGrady. A huge no to the others though.
this made me laugh. i like it.
I won´t sign McGrady for chemistry reasons, i didn´t like the fact that his team and his teammates knew about him calling it off for a year in ESPN.
Iverson is out of the question because he is mainly done and we already have 2 PG.
Shaq is the only one i would call and see what he wants to do, just offer him a project but being perfectly clear on what his part will be, if it works for both parties great, if not... no problem.
Shaq for vet min or LLE is a no-brainer. But Tmac and AI absolutely no.
mcgrady is the only one i like for the lle if hed even take it to come to sa
I just don't get the Shaq thing. Why would the Spurs want to get older and slower...especially on the heels of getting beat by a team that stretched their bigs out to the perimeter and beat them off the dribble consistently?
Spurs will be a much better team if they roll with new acquisition Splitter and Dice & Blair in their second season.
Yep, you do not want to take on T-Mac cause before you know it, you'll get this in the lockerroom.

On Tuesday, we discovered that the Rockets organization was getting tired of T-Mac’s act, and now there’s a rumor that Yao Ming is growing weary of it as well.
According to a source close to the situation, Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady are no longer speaking with each other off the court. Ming is apparently so fed up with McGrady’s chronic injuries that he told the officials in Houston to get him out of the organization.Only instead of Yao being frustrated with T-Mac, insert Duncan/Parker and Ginobili. I can see it now...
Another source also revealed that Yao’s frustration is real. And Yao is not the only person that is grown tired of McGrady’s self-diagnosis, his up-to-the-last-minute decisions on whether he will play or not.
Duncan, "Fool come here don't even want to play"
Parker, "He said his knee hurt"
Ginobili, "Dammit, just trade him out, lets get someone who can at least shoot like JJ Red ".
If we can get TMac for LLE or even possibly the vet. min in our current financial situation shouldn't we automatically do it.
We can't get any other wing player on the market that has had a career as proven as Tmac's. If we don't sign him, we will probably get inexperience young players or scrub journey men that can't help us now. If we sign him, he might return to somewhat the player he was before his injuries, but even if he returns to only half the player he use to be that's still more than what the spurs had the last couple years. Also Tmac is only 31, he would be perfect as the starting SG and he could help James Anderson along.
So I say if the deal is right sign him right away, its a no lose situation, if he stays healthy and plays kind of like his former self we improve our team vastly and pretty much at no financial cost and we have a chance at a le; and if he gets hurt or plays like crap we remain at what we are, but still we don't take a step backwards and the spurs will be the same as if they didn't sign Tmac.
What do you guys think?
If he's willing to play for the BAE here, it'd be hard to say no from where I'm standing.
He can cause lockerroom issues and is a diva. If he doesn't get playing time cause he still thinks he's 2008 T-Mac, he'll go crying to Popovich asking him to bench RJ or Bonner and let him play at least 25 min/game. If he doesn't get that, he'll go to the press asking to be traded. If you don't mind drama, then no, there is no downside.
A guy like that you don't sign for more than you're willing to eat when you cut his ass loose, and you tell him so right before he picks up the pen to sign the contract.
I think he'd quickly learn his at ude would be just as important as his play in earning him time on the floor.
...but even as I say this, I find the possibility of his choosing to sign here so remote that it probably isn't worth indulging the speculation.
