Blair is not french...![]()
Agreed. Mike Taylor sounds like a xenophobic redneck, criticizing Tiago's English ("See ball. Put ball in basket."). Can't help wondering how his Portuguese is. ...Truly an embarrassment to the city of San Antonio.
taylor and his redneck sidekick from sling blade are a couple of major d-bags.
From Tiago Splitter news conference beginning at about 3:40 p.m.
"I'm very happy to be a San Antonio Spurs. It's been three years for me and San Antonio to wait for this moment. I'm very happy. I knew that I want to be part of the NBA, part of the San Antonio Spurs. You never know when.
"My game in Europe is mostly low post. I'm a center. I can run the floor quickly for my size I think. I like to play pick and roll.
"They're the team since I'm a kid. I know them very well. I'm very happy to be here in San Antonio. For sure we're going to have fun.
"I told R.C. (Buford) and Pop (Gregg Popovich), when I started wearing 21 it was because I love the way Tim Duncan plays. He was one of my idols. Now that they change my number, I don't care.
"I decided I want to come here. I feel I'm in the right moment. Three years ago when San Antonio drafted me I knew it was impossible for me to come here. I signed a new contract in Europe. I improved my game a lot.
"I know the (NBA) game is different. I also know I know how to play this game. I will try to be the smartest and strongest I can do."

I'm liking this dude more and more.
no news about the amount of the contract ?
This is the same website who posted a Tiago interview before free agency start.

Today they reported Tiago signed a 3 year deal, but no info on the money yet
Conforme dito aqui, sem surpresas Tiago Splitter fechou com os Spurs por três temporadas (todas garantidas). Depois de passar a lua de mel no México, o brasileiro desembarcou no sábado em San Antonio para realizar exames médicos.

I just hope Blair doesn't hurt him in practice.
Freaking beast, he's on our side man!
Is this Tiago's wife?
If so, he's already a winner in my book
I'm hyped that he's finally official! He even knows what time it is in that picture... Time to get #5.
Congratulations Spurs fans! You are relly fortunate to sing with Splitter. Great player and great character guy. He´s a brazilian basketball idol.
I only hope I never will ear these idiots from Ticket 760 again.
Yes wife
I actually listened for another half hour or so - just bad, bad radio. Nearly half the time was spent promoting the station, their twitter & facebook, etc. Then once they finally start taking calls he doesn't even let callers talk.
Why do these guys have jobs? There's plenty of talent in radio - it's like San Antonio is the bermuda triangle of sports talk.
Thanks![]()

Spurs Sign Tiago Splitter
The San Antonio Spurs today announced they have signed Tiago Splitter. The 25-year-old Splitter was selected by the Spurs with the 28th overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft. Per club policy, terms of the contract were not announced.
The 6-11, 235-pound Splitter has played for Caja Laboral Vitoria in the ACB League since the 2003-04 season. In his seven seasons with Caja Laboral he has established himself as one of the dominate big men in Europe. Splitter has lead Caja Laboral to four Spanish League regular season les (2003-04, 2004-05, 2006-07 and 2008-09) and two Spanish League championships (2007-08 and 2009-10). In addition the team has advanced to at least the quarterfinals of the Euroleague Championship six straight seasons (including four straight semifinal appearances from 2004-08).
During the 2009-10 ACB season Splitter was named the Spanish League regular season MVP and the Spanish League Finals MVP. For the season he averaged 15.4 points and 7.1 rebounds in 28.9 minutes in 38 games. He shot .595 (219-368) from the field and .759 (145-191) from the line.
In 2009-10 Euroleague action Splitter averaged 13.0 points and 5.4 rebounds in 26.1 minutes in 16 games. He shot .539 (76-141) from the field and .636 (56-88) from the line. Splitter earned All-Euroleague honors for the third straight season (he was named to the All-Euroleague First Team in 2007-08 and to the All-Euroleague Second Team in 2008-09 and 2009-10).
Originally signed by Caja Laboral in April of 2000, at the age of 15, Splitter played, on loan, with Araba Gorago Alava in 2000-01 and Basket Bilbao Berri in 2001-02 and 2002-03 before joining Caja Laboral for the 2003-04 season. In seven Spanish League seasons with Caja Laboral he averaged 11.2 points and 5.1 rebounds in 233 games while shooting .616 (969-1,573). In seven Euroleague appearances Splitter has played in 137 games averaging 10.5 points and 4.8 rebounds while shooting .597 (537-900) from the field.
Born and raised in Brazil, Splitter has played for the Brazilian National Team since 2002. In international play Splitter’s Brazilian teams have captured gold medals at the 2003 South American Championship, the 2003 Pan American Games, the 2005 Americas Championship and the 2009 Americas Championship.
EDITOR’S NOTE: The team’s name was changed to Caja Laboral prior to the 2009-10 season. From 1997-2009 the team was Tau Ceramica.
You've got me. I have no doubt that there are at least a dozen posters on this site who would make for much, much better radio. Tempted to write the Program Director (http://www.ticket760.com/pages/contacts.html) to let him know he can--and should--do better.
That's about the only thing you can hold against him!

She must be pretty tall herself then.
Hahaha - how good is this.
Great work Spurs. Gives him a few years to learn the system alongside Tim Duncan and also form a partnership with Blair into the future.
