    Pop is really high on him. He thinks that Tiago is just as smart as Oberto and much better at every aspect of the game.
    Holy that would be AWESOME

    According to Monroe, the exact dollar figure is $11.016 million and the Spurs are left with 2.365 of their mid-level exception.

    Good job by the FO. This is one evidence how great our FO is in getting a good deal. While the other teams are over paying players, we are getting our money's worth.

    Matt Barnes or Josh Howard would each be good additions as starting quality 3's

    Bonner at the much talked about 4 years, ~4 million per year on a contending team trying to get better is just as bad if not worse than Petro for 3 years, ~3 million with a team that won 12 games last year.

    Petro can't make New Jersey any worse... Bonner sure as brings us down tho. These kind of moves are expected from the New Jerseys of the league... They're expected NOT to happen in San Antonio.

    Also, at least at 24, Petro can still potentially get better in the next 3 years.... unlike Bonner, who is already too slow to be in the NBA, and will be 34 by the time his contract is up.

    That said, hopefully the deal isn't even close to that reported amount of years or dollars. Maybe they won't sign him at all, and it's just a worldwide joke being played on Spurs fans right now.... I can dream.

    (and nobody try and twist this into me saying the Petro signing is a good deal.... both deals are absolutely ridiculous... but New Jersey's sorry squad can much more afford a signing like this than the Spurs can in the last few years of trying to win a championship.)

    With Bell, he has history in San Antonio. He was the last player cut in 2000. It was Pop who made a call on Bell's behalf that got him to Philly and Larry Brown. That was the year they made the Finals. It wouldn't shock me, if 1 Virgin Island Native, wanted to play with the best player ever from the Virgin Islands and the best to ever play his position in the game.
    I also think that Bell's history as a staunch defender has given him a levity that approached what Bruce had. In effect, refs will let him play tough because they know that his job is to play against the best scorers in the L. Plus he had a money 3 ball.

    If not him, I'm high on Josh Howard because he is highly effective in limited minutes and when pressure is high. I don't know if cannabis is the reason he seemed so cool under pressure but if he can find a legal way to stay cool and still be effective. He's solid too.

    Then the other usual suspects, like Barnes, Butler or even maybe another crack at RJ? I want him to be the player I expected but if not, those other guys give the Spurs added dimension.

    Very odd off-season for the Spurs FO...

    -->draft - very solid.
    -->let RJM and Bogans walk - good.
    -->RJ opts out! Yippee Ki-yay Mother er!!!
    -->Bonner re-signs for 16/4 - WTF???
    -->Splitter signs 10/3 - WTF??? in a good way.

    Odd, to say the least.

    Yes but barely.

    I think both deserve 2 million or under. Petro more so though.

    I really like the idea of Bell too, but I'm scared that maybe through age and injury he's lost a step. Worth the risk though for 2-2.7mil.

    Do you really think Howard could be got for 2.7mil? If so, another decent roll of the dice.

    I think we'll end up with Butler though.
