Passed civil rights laws that would make sure that all people have a fair shake in this country. And what does a white person get in return for help electing a man they thought was honorable, intelligent and thought would change how politics and race are in the USA ? why are you dating back to 1812? the civil rights act was passed in 1964. lynching and segregations were still common throughout the 1960s.

the anglos that voted for obama represented a demographic that was very young or educated. your post acts as if every single white person eligible to vote casted their ballot for obama.

but what i love most about this post is that it strongly infers that the sole impetus for the greater emancipations over the years has been exclusively the work of the "white" man's personal redemption as opposed to the historical, economic and political dynamics over the past 2 centuries. not too mention the courage of many blacks and civil rights activists.
