Gasol was injured to start that year. They got off to a horrible start and never recovered. They also had Chucky Atkins as their starting PG. Doesn't change the fact that they had made the playoffs 3 straight years and haven't made them once since he took over.

Do you honestly believe Chris Wallace took over a playoff team?

Chris Wallace took over the team that just got the worst record in the NBA, plain and simple. The fact they made the playoffs in 2006 (when they still had a capable PG, a stud defender in Battier, and Pau Gasol before he stopped giving a ) shouldn't be held against Chris Wallace. There were major roster differences from their 2006 team to their 2007 team.

It's not like they were a playoff team when he traded Gasol, they were near the bottom of the standings at the time. If they were a playoff team at the time of the trade, chances are they wouldn't have been so inclined to trade Gasol. They could have easily gotten more, but trading Gasol for young players and cap relief made perfect sense at the time.

No but he made his team worse.

It did make sense. It's just a shame he took the first offer that was set on fire and placed on his doorstep. That's the real issue. He didn't seek out other deals.

One thing we can probably agree on is David Kahn sucks worse at his job than Wallace.

When he traded Gasol Memphis was 13-32. Maybe that technically made them worse, but when you're 13-32, who gives a ?

Do you think that he might have wanted to get better offers but Heisley breathing down his neck and Jerry West breathing down Heisley's neck made it hard to do that?

And yeah, I agree Kahn is way worse than Wallace , only executive who might be worse than Kahn is the gobbler the Suns just hired as president of basketball operations
