I think there's an indoor court available for rent at Southside Lions Park, if you're willing to drive to the SE side of town.
preferably one that is covered/shaded or indoor.
we've been playing outdoors but it's killer.

If by public you mean free, you have a better chance searching for a chupacabra.
How you gonna play basketball at the chicken shop?
The only ones that I remember being indoors were the ones for Parks and Recreation. It was a long time ago and was mostly for kids. Not sure about it anymore.
randolf has covered courts but no gym. there is a catholic church off 281/thousand oaks that opens up sunday nights. In the summer, when I was a kid, Madison HS opened their gym to the public in the daytime.
Try Farias Park in the west side. Don't forget your bullet proof vest.
There's a few of those that exist. At least in Dallas. Now if we're talking free and not littered with a load of teenage rs and hood rats, that basketball court does not exist anywhere in the US.
potranco and 1604 by the duck pond in Heritage,...
I can only think of an outdoor one @ Bradley Middle School. There is a park right behind the school that has 2 courts, semi shaded.
+1
good games but way too crowded.
Schertz Park has a pretty big covered basketball area. When i played alot, that was our spot.
