NEW YORK -- Tiger Woods has dropped into a tie with Kobe Bryant as the favorite American sports star.

Woods had held the position alone since 2006, but the Los Angeles Lakers guard moved up from fourth last year to grab a share of the top spot, Harris Interactive said Tuesday.
LeBron James dropped from third to sixth in the company's survey of 2,227 adults conducted online June 14-21, before he left Cleveland to sign with Miami. Retired NBA star Michael Jordan fell from second to seventh.
Yankees captain Derek Jeter moved up one spot to third and quarterback Brett Favre went from ninth to fourth. Indianapolis quarterback Peyton Manning was fifth, up from seventh.
New England quarterback Tom Brady, who failed to make the top 10 last year, was at No. 8, followed by New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees and NASCAR's Dale Earnhardt Jr.
NASCAR's Jeff Gordon and St. Louis first baseman Albert Pujols dropped out of the top 10.
Among female athletes, sisters Serena and Venus Williams were 1-2, followed by race car driver Danica Patrick, retired soccer star Mia Hamm and tennis stars Maria Sharapova and Anna Kournikova.
Volleyball player Misty May-Treanor was tied for seventh with gymnast Shawn Johnson; basketball player Lisa Leslie was ninth; and retired tennis players Billie Jean King and Martina Navratilova were tied for 10th.
Dropping out of the top 10 were basketball's Candace Parker, golfer Annika Sorenstam, former tennis star Chris Evert and figure skater Mic e Kwan.

America is clearly attracted to infidelity
dude went from being loved (starting the all-star game and not starting on his own team; air apparent to MJ) to despised (feud with Shaquille; skank from Colorado he was trying to face blast; selfishness) to back being on top........
...& this||close to doing 20 years behind thein CO..
Why the do we have a Kobe thread STICKY on the forum? Use it
exactly ..... Kobe was an idiot for putting himself in that situation but even if he raped that chick or not, you never want to put your life in the hands of a judge or jury.
There's plenty of dudes in the joint who didn't commit any crime and they are serving serious fed time. If you can pay your way out of it, do it.
One of O.J. Simpson's lawyers (I forget his name, it's Jewish) does work pro bono on such cases and he authored a coffee table book dealing with this subject. I ran into the book one day years ago browsing thru a Waldenbooks, Ashy. It was about an inch thick and there was one page after another after another of pictures of these men (and women) who had been wrongly convicted and sent to prison. Now keep in mind these weren't one or two pics per page, but, thumb nail sized pics that filled each and every page. It was absolutely stunning to behold.
Kobe has an avid fanbase that defend everything he does, Al-Quobe..these guys literally called the girl he raped and threatened her life, they are ridiculous..the NBA loves him so much that they hid his FG% of game 7, and showed his FT% instead, something I've never seen happen in all my time watching any sport..
You combine that with the casual fan that listens to anything the media feeds them, you have your #1..@ Tiger too..America's casual fan sure loves his fake, White-washed, overhyped superstars..
However, with Kobe, he would most likely be in the top 2 most hated athletes as well, he would have probably been #1 before everybody became sensitive over King's actions..
I believe that and it really goes to show you how difficult the justice system can be for all parties involved. The prosecution's job is to convince the jury that the defendant is guilty even when they know the dude may be innocent. And the defense have to try and get their client off when they have a load of evidence that says he/she did said crime.
No innocent person should want to get caught up in that and if DNA evidence wasn't used today, many of these people who are getting out now would never see the light of day. Just sad.
Not me. I've cited Bryant and his numerous trespasses and will continue to do so.
It's my religion.
It is very sad and tragic.
And you're absolutely right, Ashy, prosecutor's are no better than the accused they prosecute.
those people really have major issues. Calling the chick's crib and threatening her life was asinine and should have been criminal.Kobe has an avid fanbase that defend everything he does, Al-Quobe..these guys literally called the girl he raped and threatened her life, they are ridiculous..
his game was brutal on the shooting end but if they really want to figure out the percentage for 6-24, it's not that hard. most NBA fans knows that's a ty percentage except for baseball. if you're batting .250, you're decent at bestthe NBA loves him so much that they hid his FG% of game 7, and showed his FT% instead, something I've never seen happen in all my time watching any sport.
it is sad. that's why I didn't blame Bean one bit for paying the chick off. you just can't take that chance to prove your innocence. That's playing the biggest game of craps ever and it's a simple choice. It's really worked out for him because the rape accusations rarely come up anymore ......
