Well, she sure does start in with racial diatribes around three minutes in. How long does it last?

    It's long, I'll get there.

Funny how since was a NAACP function, that they admonished her without knowing the content, then blame Fox for their own stupidity.

It's so cosmical how stupid they think their cons uency is.

Here's a paragraph from the original leak of the video:
When this statement was released it seemed very important , after all Ms. Sherrod was speaking at an NAACP function, and while Big Government only had access to the video they released, the NAACP had access to the entire video. Certainty they must have seen the entire video before they condemned Shirley Sherrod. Well Certainly not!

I've yet to read this thread and only know of the events as of this point.

I'm betting this is going to be a fun thread as the posts progress.

As the video comes near a close, my thoughts are that the NAACP raised a stink because she spoke of tolerance and equality. She didn't talk about keeping racism alive. Her words were damaging for the NAACP, especially when she said it was a shame there were no white people in the room.

I didn't like her lead story, dwelling on the past, but I see her as a very open minded woman that blacks should listen to.

"You've got to step up to the plate" and make your own future.

I thought this whole controversy erupted because Breitbart posted an edited video. My mistake. I should have known that this was all the NAACP's fault.

All media outlets used the same snippet of video. About a 2-1/2 minute segment of the farmer story. Except for being a snippet, I don't think it was edited, as in rearranged, or anything like that.

I can see how she is the scourge of the NAACP. Her vision and words of encouragement to blacks would destroy the purpose of the NAACP.

She seems like a very fine example of an American overall.

    My God...

What a concept. Community, responsibility, keep your credit status good...

She should run for congress, maybe president.

If you don't think she is a racist should Barry apologize and give her the job back?

Breitbart himself has admitted it was edited. He's just saying that it was edited before he got it.

The crux of the Shirley Sherrod controversy is what she said outside of the two-minute video clip posted by Big Government -- whether she was, as she claims, telling a story about how she overcame racial prejudice while helping poor farmers in Georgia, or whether the clip is a good encapsulation of her views. So we asked Andrew Breitbart, the founder of Big Government, why he hasn't posted the full video.

"I don't have it," Breitbart told TPMmuckraker in an interview. Breitbart said his source sent him just the edited clips at first, but is in the process of sending the full video.

Breitbart said he'll post the full video, if he can get permission from the video production company who filmed it for a local NAACP chapter. He also maintained that he didn't edit the clip and that it was sent to him already edited.
Apparently Breitbart still feels that Sherrod is a racist.

But even if the full video shows what Sherrod says it does, Breitbart said he's seen enough.

"I think the video speaks for itself," he said. "The way she's talking about white people ... is conveying a present tense racism in my opinion. But racism is in the eye of the beholder."

Yes, she's such a scourge that the NAACP has been all over the media today apologizing and calling for her to get her job back.

Sure, it had the transcript of her words added. I didn't notice any editing past it just being a snippit, and the added words. Did you?
Apparently Breitbart still feels that Sherrod is a racist.
Oh well. Maybe he didn't see the whole thing.

Obama didn't fire her personally or get consulted on her removal.

And yes, she should get her job back.

Why do you have to specifically state "blacks," why not people in general? Or do you feel white people already understand what she's trying to say and "blacks" actually gotta open their ears?

"You've got to step up to the plate" and make your own future.
An allusion to baseball? You think "blacks" absorb information better when its placed in the context of a sports? Regardless of where the quote came from, you attached your own thoughts to it. I don't think you'd say the same thing to white folks, considering how easily you seperated Sherrod's words as helpful to blacks if they'd only listen.

I'm curious where he works. He's already given us a clue by telling us he hangs out with unemployed people at the library.
Three main choices: librarian, guest, custodian.
