I was at that game. I've probably said it on here before, but I'm that proud of the fact.

It was my last game at the old ballpark, since they moved to the new park the next season. I was sitting on the first base side, about 20 rows behind the dugout.

For the first time maybe ever, we have a chance to really slam the door on the division these next two series. (Although i don't consider Oakland a contender, they're still annoying)

Even if we sweep and go 8 up I still won't feel like it's a huge lead. Just need to keep winning series and especially win series against the Angels. If we're 7 or 8 up in late August early Sept I'll feel really good about it.

If we go up 7 or more, i think that will pretty much wrap it up. (Barring major extended injuries) We are clearly the best team in this weak division, we've out hit the Angels (.279 to .258) and even outpitched them by (3.87 ERA to 4.47).

These are big margins and are no fluke. If this were the Yankees that were 7 behind us thats one thing, but the Angels are a s of their former selves. I don't see them making a huge run out of nowhere

After this series, the division lead will be at one of these four:

    1 game
    3 games
    5 games
    7 games
    9 games

    Pitching matchups:

Thursday: Jered Weaver (9-5, 3.16) vs Cliff Lee (8-4, 2.59)
Friday: Joe Saunders (6-9, 4.83) vs CJ Wilson (8-5, 3.23)
Saturday: Ervin Santana (8-7, 3.63) vs Scott Feldman (5-8, 5.48)
    Sunday: Sean O'Sullivan (1-0, 2.08) vs Tommy Hunter (7-0, 2.09)

I am praying Washington sees the light and takes Feldman out of the rotation for at least this series. This is too important to continue rolling him out there, and watching him fail every time. He is bringing down our entire team and it's time we moved him to the bullpen or sent him down. The Rangers have a legit 1-4 rotation. I'd argue that it's one of the best in the majors. And that makes me hate Feldman even more. His numbers are bad, but they look even more awful when you look at how the rest of the starters are doing. After Matt Harrison's great relief performance a couple days ago, I'd honestly give him the start this Saturday. It might backfire, but it's worth the risk because we all know the Angels will just destroy Feldman anyway.

I like the other three pitching matchups. I think Lee will look more like he did in the Boston game than he did vs the O's. I trust CJ more and more every day, and we should be able to pound Saunders like we always do, especially at our park. The last game features two pitchers with low ERAs, but Hunter has a much larger sample size to go with that.

Totally agree about the 1-4 rotation. Right up there with the best pitching teams in baseball. If we could only get a 5th starter that didn't crap his pants every single time like the 3-headed monster of Harden-Feldman-Beltre. It seems like any other starter besides those 4 is on the other team's payroll for that game

Luckily for us, a 5th starter isn't needed in the playoffs. And speaking of Harden, I will be pissed if he gets anywhere NEAR the rotation again. Holland, on the other hand, I'd like to see come back when he is able. Probably will see him in a few relief appearances. If he can do a decent job, then we might see him back as that #5 guy.

I've just seen Rangers teams falter down the stretch far too many times to be comfortable with a late July/early August single digit lead. I'll say this is the best Rangers team probably ever, and I hope that is the difference.

I heard on the radio that they did not extend the auction date, which is good for Ryan/Greenburg. If the Rangers lose Hamilton and this core it'll be back to the cellar immediately.
