Wasn't Randolph just acquired in a trade? Dont they have to wait before trading him again?

No, that rule only applies when a team over the cap acquires players. Since the Knicks were under the cap when they got Randolph, Turiaf, and Azubuike they can immediately trade them with each other/other players. I'll bet the Knicks are kicking themselves for Felton's contract. If not for that they could offer New Orleans $10+ million in instant cap relief while being able to absord Posey Okafor and CP3.

He never said they don't have trade assets of value outside of Dirk. Beaubois has value as a trade asset but not as much as Anthony Randolph.
And neither has as much trade value as Andrew Bynum.

Knicks would have to throw in Galinari for sure. Mavericks get laughed at.

By no means do I disagree, and I'm sure I'll get laughed at for this, but I wouldn't trade Bynum for CP3 given LA's situation.

An argument could be made that the Mavs can offer the best deal, even after giving up the Damp chip.

The Mavs have more than $30 million in expiring contracts (Chandler, Caron Butler, DeShawn Stevenson, J.J. Barea and Ajinca), although they have to wait a couple of months to include the ex-Bobcats in a package with other players. They have two intriguing, inexpensive young prospects in Beaubois and first-round pick Dominique Jones. (However, it should be noted that Hornets guards Darren Collison and Marcus Thornton were impressive as rookies last season, so it’s not like youth in the backcourt is a big need in the Big Easy.) The Mavs would certainly be willing to include as many future picks and as much cash as allowed – and take back the bad contracts of Emeka Okafor ($53.2 million over four years) and James Posey ($13.4 million over two years) -- to get a legitimate All-NBA talent who has yet to reach his prime.

Orlando could also put together a reasonable package to take Okafor and Posey along with Paul, but it wouldn’t be nearly as financially attractive. The Magic might offer Vince Carter, Jameer Nelson and Marcin Gortat along with picks and cash for Paul and the pair of bad contracts. Carter’s megacontract comes off the books after this season. But the Hornets would have to want Nelson ($22.8 million over three years) and Gortat ($28.1 million over four years).

The Knicks and Blazers can’t offer the Hornets a dumping ground for Okafor and Posey. They’d have to hope that the Hornets, under pressure from Paul and his reps, would be willing to swap their franchise cornerstone by himself for a package that featured expiring contracts, a couple of promising young players, picks and cash. The Blazers have reportedly offered guard Jerryd Bayless and small forward Nicolas Batum. Wings Danilo Gallinari and Wilson Chandler are the Knicks’ most attractive assets.

Of course, New Orleans could simply opt to play hardball with a player under contract for two more seasons. If the Hornets cave to CP3’s trade demands this season, the Mavs are still positioned to perhaps make the best offer.

Which is why its win/win for the Lakers however this plays out.

Considering the Lakers biggest weakness is PG and they would probably have to take Okafor (replaces Bynum's boards/blocks). They would end up better by default.

Nobody even ing mention the triangle. The Lakers only run that like 20% of the time per Phil Jackson.

They would probably get worse in the short term as they lose size and take a risk on how cp3/kobe works out, but they would get better in the long term obviously.

But they aren't on the list. lakers

Like I said if the Hornets value clearing cap room that much, Dallas has a good chance.

It could be Posey + Okafor + CP3 for Butler, Beaubois, Stevenson and Chandler. Shaves a little off the Hornets' payroll up front and clears their cap. I'm just guessing that they'd take a deal with NY first because Posey's contract isn't THAT bad and New York would give them more talent at need positions. It is worth mentioning that NY already traded/made it impossible to trade their 2011 and 2012 pick, while Dallas can still offer picks.

It wasn't the triangle nearly as much as it is the Miami Heat and just team chemistry in general. Okafor does replace Bynum's boards and blocks, but Bynum can dominate mismatches in the post (like Joel Anthony or sharmin soft Bosh) like he would need to against Miami. CP3 is also so bad at playing off ball. If it were Deron Williams different story since he can play in a structured offense with/without the ball, but it's not a sure thing CP3 and Kobe would click so well.

Kobe on the other hand is very good playing off-ball.

You aren't rational on this subject since you hate PGs in general. But you're just fishing for problems here.

Chris Paul has a ridiculous basketball IQ -- he's fitting into just about any system. Considering who he would be replacing it would be an upgrade on just about every level. He does everything Fisher could from the 1, but better. He's even a more consistent shooter at this point. Fisher would also move to the position he actually is: one-trick-pony-backup-shooting-guard.

The Lakers would still have the interior advantage over Miami with Bosh on Pau. Okafor just needs to rebound, anchor and finish the plethora of easy baskets he'll be fed. Miami trying to defend Paul would be an even bigger mismatch for them to be honest. Chalmers, Arroyo and maybe White Chocolate? Haha.
