EW ORLEANS (AP) -- Dell Demps says he's looking forward to working with old friend and new Hornets coach Monty Williams in New Orleans, where Demps will fill his first general manager's post.
The Hornets formally named Demps as the franchise's seventh general manager on Wednesday. He takes over for Jeff Bower, who stepped down last week.
Team president Hugh Weber says the 40-year-old Demps is a rising star among NBA front office personnel and knows what it takes to build a championship contender from working the past five years as director of player personnel in San Antonio under Spurs general manager R.C. Buford.
Demps also played parts of three seasons in the NBA, including 1995-96 with San Antonio when Williams also was with the Spurs.
Bound to happen sooner or later.
Spurs have people behind enemy lines all over the league. To bad we couldn't have traded him for Gran Hill.![]()

man, it seems the the FO always loses at least one person a year because they do such a good job
Yeah, but look at the reach of the Spurs mafia. How many franchises are being modeled after ours and have FOs populated with our people. I think it's kinda cool.
true. i'm still waiting for the day they all plan together a la jerry west and just send the spurs great players for draft picks, matt bonner, and a bottle from pop's wine collection.
But, the FO sucks.
whether the opinion is they suck or they do a good job, either way the spurs' FO still seems to lose more guys than most teams
Patience my friend, patience!![]()
