they should make a Captain Planet movie
I never got into him as a child, but I never cared for DC.
A great comic book movie could only help the comic book movie industry though, so I hope it is great.
Peter Jackson needs to get into them.
How come Deadpool doesnt get any love from these movie makers? He's the coolest antihero of all.
- and no, he doesnt suck.
get ready for wolverine with extended ryan reynolds as deadpool reshoots.

once you catch the vision of what green lantern is all about he is a very compelling character.
Not exactly. He got cancer from a villain named Nitro, who, several years later (at the time) also set off the explosion that touched off Civil War. Nitro's power was to explode, assume a gaseous form, and then recons ute.
Deadpool is like the Invader Zim of comic books. There, I said it.
Other than Batman, DC comics in general is pretty lame imo.
They are making a deadpool movie, the writers of zombieland are writing the script, and Robert Rodriguez is rumored to be directing the film
is Reynolds set to play Deadpool again in the movie? Kind of strange.....
that said, it's no stranger than the Torch becoming Cap....
Complete opposite for me. Other than Spider-man, I couldn't care less for any Marvel character.
I shouldn't say lame since I never read DC comics. DC characters just never appealed to me. I think it is because their posterboy is Superman who is too perfect of a hero.
I think Reynolds will do a good job, but he was made for the sarcastic wise-ass like Deadpool persona. I have no idea if that is what the Green Lantern character is like as well.
In a late 90s JLA issue, Cap sucker-punched Supes and knocked him out:

I've never really been a fan of Hal Jordan outside of Emerald Dawn, JLA-Year One, Emerald Knights, and a select few 90s GL issues(there was one particularly cool issue where he and fellow GL Guy Gardner had a grudge match with the stipulation that the loser had to forfeit their power ring). I grew up reading Kyle Rayner as Green Lantern so I might be biased when it comes to this. In any case, a GL movie has the potential to be very cool seeing as there's so much to like about his origin and powers.
Check out the animated Green Lantern film that came out last year called Green Lantern: First Flight. It should give you a basic idea about the character.
Knowing that Campbell (Casino Royale) was directing I was hoping for less Reynolds comedy and more seriousness.
Agreed. From what I remember, Hal Jordan was probably the most serious of the superheroes back in the day that wasn't an alien or a robot. He needed to be teamed up with the wisecracking beatnik pinko Green Arrow in the 70s to lighten things up. This looks more like a Marvel movie version of GL.
I wonder what he'll be doing as he yells "Woo-hoo!" when first using his powers.
seems to me that they went with Reynold because of the success that sarcastic humorous Downey had as IM
or will he dump his girlfriend when he combs his hair down, wears guyliner and goes emo in GL III
In brightest day
In blackest night
No evil shall escape my sight
Let those who worship evil's might
Beware my power, Green Lantern's light!
I still remember that after 40 years, but don't know where I left my car keys.
