true tbh
Dirk has Devan George starting at Center in one playoff series, while Kobe has Ron Artest of all people be the game 7 hero in another series.
So, I'm glad you admit that Finley was good then ..... thanks

The Big Three in the early 2000's were nice ..... just happen to be at a bad time when Sacramento was playing the prettiest basketball in the league and the Lakers were just mauling everyone.
Is he better than prime Shaq?
Crucify em, ghtpu. Send that game 7 choking ass on over to the tree of woe!
They were built for the regular season. There's no way they win in any era, even in the 2005-2007 era (weakest NBA era of all time IMO)
But, son, as much as you dislike Dirk, you have to admit that he's never had a big man of Gasol's or Shaq's caliber to cover up his poor shooting efforts. You know Kobe has played with the greatest talent in the post-Jordan era.
Dirk had to shoot lights out for those Mavs to have any chance. If he was off, there was no Shaq or Gasol to dump it down into for a high-percentage attempt.
When in shape, there was no one better than Shaquille.
Thanks!
Ashy, honest question. Replace Kobe with Dirk on those 3-peat Lakers teams, do they still 3-peat?
(I know they play different positions, so we send Horry or Horace Grant packing, fill in Dirk at the PF, and move Ron Harper over to staring SG).
son that is true no doubt about that, but we can't discuss the "but but what if's". excuses are the storyline of Dirk's entire career. we still should include Greg Ostertag into this post if Dirk is allowed. understand?
Shouldn't that be Dirk's job?
I don't know ..... that's an iffy question. Even with Shaquille on the floor, the best player in that Game 7 WCF against the Blazers was Kobe. Dirk was only a few years removed from being drafted at that time and had a very difficult time adjusting.
In that 2001 WCF against the Spurs, the real NBA Finals, the best player on the floor in that series was Kobe without question ......
If we are just talking Lakers versus Pacers, Sixers and Nets; Dirk replacing Kobe, I'd say yes. Going up against the East, they would have smoked those three teams but the Western conference playoffs could have been a different story.......
I know right. A 7 footer with the shooting touch he has should be down low,but he's a pussy and too scared to play with the big boys. Kobe is in low post more than Dirk
Not his game. Dirk has always been a 7 foot shooting guard.
It's like saying Malik Rose should've been a perimeter player because he's 6-7.
Although, Dirk does post up pretty good at the elbow. If he gets his the ball there, it's usually a made turnaround jumper the majority of the time.
You have zero redeeming qualities as a poster.
Dirks bread and butter is his midrange shooting game. Are you saying he should move away from the midrange and play in the low post where he is not as skilled? That is like putting Tom ing Brady at running back.
Hey Greg, why don't you go headbutt a rusty nail or something.
Hey PGDynasty, why don't you go make a worthwhile post or something?
Your entire shtick on spurstalk is to suck on Kobe's wang, which doesn't set you apart from the other hundreds of Kobe's pecker licking post Gasol laker fans.
I think if Dirk had Shaq to take the pressure off him, he would excel in that series as well. The Spurs could always check Shaq by throwing Robinson, Duncan, and even Malik Rose at him, keeping his numbers pedestrian by his standards, while Kobe got to feast on the likes of Danny Ferry, Sean Elliott, and Terry Porter.
I still think they would've beaten the Spurs in 01 with Dirk. It wouldn't be the slaughter it was, Kobe was indeed on fire the whole playoffs, but they probably win in 6.
this gotta be a mutha in joke kobe is nowhere near duncan , the minute goes sour for kobe he crys like a to get traded, duncan plays with whoever the he has anever complains
That team wasn't losing to anyone with Kobe or Dirk. That was the best Laker playoff run and probably the best playoff run I've ever seen (15-1 mark; and the one loss in overtime to Filly). Doesn't hurt that Derek Fisher was like 15-20 from three range in that series either. Kobe was mainly killing Antonio Daniels in that series.
With seeing the way Dirk played in his rookie season and going into a game seven against the Blazers just one year removed, you can easily say the Laker would have lost that game if they had Dirk.
I'd have to agree that the Lakers don't beat Portland with Dirk. Kobe was big in that series and Dirk didn't yet have any playoff experience.
Fish's 15-20 three pointers was the real key to that series. When someone is shooting 75% on threes while on the floor with Shaq who averaged 27 and 13 on his usual awesome shooting, it opens up things for everyone else.
