Countdown show tonight at 11 ET on e..
Main card
Middleweight Championship bout: Anderson Silva (c) vs. Chael Sonnen
You kidding? A dancer vs wrestler. You pick a winner in a fighting contest. Easy pick.
Srsly: Anderson is on another level, but how fun is to hear Sonnen and, he can wear Silva down. He needs like 3 rounds. Against Maia Anderson was unable to do anything in the 4th and 5th. I don't know if Sonnen will try to stand up a bit with Silva or just goes for double leg early. he must to do it carefully cause he can get kneed.
Jeeeezz I want Anderson lose so much
I WILL RETIRE THIS GUY
FUN TA STIC
Welterweight bout: Jon Fitch vs. Thiago Alves
[I]Fitch wants to make a big statment. There is no way he is not gonna get a le shot after he wins this. Still there is Shields vs Kampmann in contention
Lightweight bout: Clay Guida vs. Rafael Dos Anjos
Hate Guida
Welterweight bout: Matt Hughes vs. Ricardo Almeida
Almeida will smash a legend. Going division down was a good move for Ricardo.
Heavyweight bout: Roy Nelson vs. Junior Dos Santos
JDS vs Velasquez for HW championship early 2011 !!1

I'm so ing sick of seeing and hearing Ed 'goofy sounding' Soares talking for Silva. Especially on the countdown show considering they can easily have Silva talking and just translate it. What's your ing purpose for opening your mouth you lap dog !?!?!?
Middleweight Championship bout: Anderson Silva (c) vs. Chael Sonnen (it pains me)
Welterweight bout: Jon Fitch vs. Thiago Alves (my boy Fitch)
Lightweight bout: Clay Guida vs. Rafael Dos Anjos (wouldn't give a except it's U.S. vs Brazilian)
Welterweight bout: Matt Hughes vs. Ricardo Almeida
Heavyweight bout: Roy Nelson vs. Junior Dos Santos (tough pick but...U.S. vs Brazilian)
I could have intercourse with your opinion.
That interview with sonnen on UFC live on VS was brilliant.
Chael actually says he is better and faster then Silva.
I love it.
The thing is that Anderson can be broken but only when he will have tough time. Then in his mind can appear a thinking "maybe that son of a biotch was right? "
That bit of a doubt could be crucial.
But only when Silva will have hard time or Sonnen will wear him down on the ground. Well that's actually the same
I don't think Silva will doubt himself, and on the ground Sonnen has been prone to being submitted. Everyone is banking on Sonnen's arms not being caught in something for his GnP to be effective. I think he can take some shorts and knees, but I dunno about his submission defense and that will ultimately be what I'm looking to see in the fight.
As much as i want Chael to break Silva in half, i dont think it is going to happen. I pick Silva to win, as much as i hate to do it. I really hope i am wrong here.
I think Alves is going to find a way to put Fitch out. Its hard to hate Fitch, but his fights are usually just so damn boring. I dont think Alves is going to let this fight go to a grind fest.
Roy Nelson v Junior...I don't know, everything tells me Dos Santos is just way too much of a fighter for Nelson. Nelson always surprises me though. I pick Dos Santos, but i wouldn't be surprised if Nelson takes the initial heat, and frustrates him into making a mistake. If Nelson can pull this off, i will laugh my ass off.
Right now I've got it...
Anderson Silva (C) vs. Chael Sonnen
Jon Fitch vs. Tiago Alves
Clay Guida vs. Rafael Dos Anjos
Matt Hughes vs. Ricardo Almeida
Junior dos Santos vs. Roy Nelson
First off, don't count Big Country Roy Nelson. He's a Renzo black belt and a former IFL Heavyweight Champion, that guy is game against everybody. Including Arlovski. They stood that fight up from I believe a crucifix from side mount? It was something ridiculous, but it's been too long for me to remember. Me being a fan of Matt Hughes has clouded my judgment for that fight, can tell how I actually feel. I think the other Dos Anjos might really give Clay Guida a run for his money, he tapped Terry Etim in his last fight and everybody was getting ready to crown Etim the future of 155, but also remember that Etim isn't some dominating wrestler like Guida. Should be an interesting fight. Fitch/Alves is easy to me, Fitch I think Fitch is CAPABLE of beating anybody at 170 not named GSP.
And then to the main event. I've drunk the Chael Sonnen Kool-Aid to be honest.I really truly believe that he's got what it takes to beat Silva. Hendo is my favorite fighter, but I don't see Chael getting off the gameplan like Dan Henderson did, and when he's striking his shots aren't wide. Chael actually has very decent stand up, it's not bad at all. I'd honestly worry more about him getting submitted in Silva's guard than getting knocked out. And keep in mind, Dan Henderson's wrestling translates to MMA a little differently, both guys come from a Greco-Roman background, but Chael was also a Division I All-American at Oregon. He can shoot for takedowns and he can do it very very well. Yushin Okami is a strong strong wrestler, he proved that the other night against Munoz and he had NOTHING for Chael. Chael Sonnen is probably the best MMA wrestler in the UFC right now outside of GSP and Brock. And his credentials as an Olympic alternate outweigh Brock's. People who aren't giving him a chance though didn't watch the first round of Hendo/Anderson Silva.
I don't really follow this as much as you guys, but I have caught a few of Silva's fights. We have a sportstalk station here in Baltimore that I catch at night while at work, and the concensus is that Silva is going to decimate this guy and there is no one at 185 who can come remotely close to beating him. Not sure how true that is though.
I'm picking Sonnen, though I just don't know if anyone will ever beat Silva. Silva can be described in 3 words: Unorthodox, Fundamental, and Lethal.
I just hope that Silva beats the out of this guy in the first round with his stand up and finishes it with Knees to the face!
He's already been tapped twice. And he's lost 4 times. A decision in his first fight and he got DQ'ed against Yushin Okami. Tbh, he's got an aura about him. He's showed vulnerabilities against Dan Henderson and he almost got pounded out by Travis Lutter. He can be beaten.
Damn great stuff there..![]()
That is the only way you can beat Silva, you can't out strike him, you have to get close and attempt to take him down and try to get something done on the ground.
The thing is, it is so hard to time anything against Silva because of his stance. But if Sonnen is going to have any chance he has to get in range for the shoot and get the fight to the ground.
Although Sonnen will be my favorite fighter in the world this Saturday, on Sunday I'm probably gonna hate the guy from then on out
