    To be fair, Haikus originated from Japan. Japanese poets have stated that a haiku is 5-7-5 moras, which are different from syllables. About 12 syllables are 17 moras, to quote from japanese poets.

    I will just treat it as 5-7-5 syllables for the sake of convenience.
