1 more thing ...he could of easly hung on and kept chasing a ring and/or Kareem's record.
he chose not too and I respect him more for that ...
Being ringless excludes him as all-time great PF ...but he gets cool points for not hanging on ...
He only chose to ring chase for the Lakers, which was then destroyed by Shaq, Kobe, and Buss's collective ego.

Where could he have coattailed in 05? Spurs? Pistons?

Malone is my second favorite player of all-time. I was hoping he'd have kept playing and broke Abdul-Jabbar's record, but not just to get the record, but because he was still a good player. He wasn't like Olajuwon or Ewing were at the end of their respective careers.

Duncan was a PF/C when he broke in, but with his limited mobility in recent years and the game going smaller and faster, he's now a C. Offensively, he was always really a C, but defensively, he used to be able to guard PF's.

The thing is though, you can be in the discussion at two positions. Look at Rodriguez. Greatest shortstop of all-time and also one of the greatest third basemen of all-time. Apply that to Duncan: greatest power forward of all-time and also one of the greatest centers of all-time.

I think so. Are you telling me the Spurs wouldn't have moved Duncan to center to add Karl Malone? How about the Nets or any mid-level contender?
Like TD21 said, Malone could of STILL played.

I hated the Lakers in 2004. But there was nothing better than putting this ing asshole out of commission. For good. No le. You couldn't play in the last game. End of your career. Goodbye.

I remember this game. I remember Laimbeer going back at him. I remember all the blood, all the cut-aways, the delay of game. And he said he deserved it for being a Bad Boy. Because our guard thought he should've been in John Stockton's slot of the Dream Team he used it for motivation every time he played Stockton. By Malone's logic, what do you deserve, Karl?

There were rumors in February of 2005 that Malone was coming here. Blasphemy. There are things I forgive, but 40 s ches above the right eye--near the orbital bone, the eye socket, the skull, and the brain is a move.

you, you classless piece of .

Tell us you can't touch a man with AIDS again, asshole.

Karl Malone: professional badass, bona-fide cheap shot artist, statutory rapist, Laker's legend, greatest PF of all time, enters the hall of fame tonight. Take a moment to appreciate.
    Fail. Badly.

one of the last true NBA bad-asses...You'd be hard-pressed to find an opponent who hadn't taken a Malone elbow to the grill when he played.
Or one who never dropped Malone to the floor from the slightest touch as if there was a sniper in the stands. Can't be Mahorn and Vlade at the same time.

That old Finals MVP award was a thing of beauty. The new one is a piece of crap...

Was a fantastic thing that he didn't get to play in his final game and never got a championship.

Oh, yeah and head 2 head is meaningless as well as playoff success ...

So again, Malone is better than duncan ...based on the same logic.

    Malone
    better FT shooter
    better scorer
    better rebounder
    better defnder
    better passer

who cares if San antonio's win % head 2 head is better
