I'm gonna get roasted for saying this, but although I'm not a Bonner fan -we needed to re sign Bonner in order to have the versatility to have a "stretch 4" in the game if necessary...there were absolutely no other resonable other options out there in the FA market this year so I agree with the signing.

Hopefully Ryan Richards gets good quickly so we can try a new player as the stretch 4 somewhere down the line.

The outside shooting big is a necessity in today's NBA in order to help neutralize some of the zone defenses in today's game.

This would have been fine if he in fact stretched the floor. There were several game where the defense either was slow to rotate or simply left him wide open and he still missed the 3. Him standing out past the arc just means one less person for the defense to have to worry about and one less big we have to rebound.

In fact, taking that further. I'm a firm believer that Dirk, while being a fantastic player, also causes the Mavs some problems when it comes to sacrificing a true big man.

Bonner is just like Dirk except he can't shoot, run the floor, or make basketball plays.

Yeah. I think the catch 22 is that we don't get to find out until it really matters...in the playoffs. So the worst case scenario is that he could could have a great season and start choking in the playoffs but then Pop keeps playing him to see if he can snap out of it.
