Exclusive: Fulham set to sign Algerian World Cup defender
Mark Hughes is set to make Algeria defender Rafik Halliche his first signing at Fulham.
The 23-year-old centre-back left his country’s training camp last night to fly to London for a trial before completing a £1.8m deal.
Halliche, who helped hold England to a goalless draw at the World Cup, is a Benfica player but has been loaned out to fellow Portuguese club Nacional for the last two seasons. Arsenal were linked with the Algeria international last month.
Halliche, who will miss tonight’s (wed) friendly with Gabon, said: “I am a Benfica player but I am leaving and I haven’t yet signed for another club. I turned down Guimaraes because I think I will have better offers before the end of the transfer window. As for Fulham, Arsenal and all the other clubs mentioned, all I can say for now is that there is nothing finalised.”

Liverpool interested in Gio
Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson is rumoured to be interested in signing Tottenham youngster Giovani dos Santos but may face a tough time persuading Harry Redknapp to sell after he gave the Mexican international his second taste of first team action in almost two years at the club.
After a promising World Cup the former Barcelona man has been linked with moves to the likes of AC Milan and a potential return to Galatasaray, where the youngster played on loan last term but the White Hart Lane boss seems to be trying to make extra use of the 21 year old but it may not prove enough to keep the playmaker happy.
Interest from the Anfield outfit may prove tempting for the youngster who has struggled to persuade his boss of his value. Redknapp may be against selling to a top four rival or indeed may try to use the talented midfielder more often but it does seem that the Monterrey born starlet will find it very hard to get a regular spot in the starting eleven, such is the strength in depth at the north London club.

Apprently, Hassan Yebda is headed to Napoli
Source:Napoli Set To Sign Benfica's Hassan Yebda
Date: 20-Aug-2010
Ambitious Serie A side Napoli are on the verge of landing midfielder Hassan Yebda from Portuguese champions Benfica on a season-long loan deal, according to latest reports.
Il Corriere dello Sport claims that the Azzurri have reached an agreement with Benfica and that they will retain an option to the sign the Algerian on a permanent contract at the end of the 2010-11 season for €4.5 million.
The 26-year-old played for Portsmouth last season and has returned to Benfica for the new Liga Sagres campaign. However, Yebda's place in the team is not guaranteed as the Portuguese giants have other options in midfield.
Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri has lost Luca Cigarini to Sevilla this summer and is on the hunt for a replacement

lol lefty keeps posting bout his Algerians :P
EFRAIN JUAREZ is being tracked by Arsenal just FOUR GAMES into his Celtic career.
SunSport can reveal Gunners boss Arsene Wenger was impressed by Juarez in the Emirates Cup.
And he has asked the midfielder's pal and Gunners striker Carlos Vela about the £2million Celt who is fast becoming a fans favourite.
Vela has spoken highly of Juarez who has netted in each of the Hoops' home Euro ties this season against Braga and Utrecht.
Now Wenger is going to monitor the Mexican ace - signed in July from UNAM Pumas - ahead of a January window swoop.
Juarez, 22, starred for Mexico at the World Cup and was linked with Premiership clubs before joining Celtic.

Take this with a grain of salt though, its from The SUN.
The SUN or not ... it's impressive that the media is speaking highly of him this soon lol
I agree that it might be time for Vela to move to another team.
Halliche and Yebda are Algerian ?
