good game
Spain has a chance to tie or take the lead only down 78-80 with 2:40 left
USA wins by 1 thanks to game saving block by Durant
Surprised how much coach K went with Rose isos at the end there. Good game.
It was a fun game to watch. USA/Greece this Wednesday should also be interesting.
Argentina-Turkey playing on that link right now.
Calderon is out of the WC. Tore knee ligaments against USA.
Raptors said it's a torn muscle.
I've just watch Ausralia/France and 4ive been impressed by Patrick Mills. I hope for him he will find a team where he could get some minutes instead of being buried at the end of Blazers' bench.
I've just reported what I heard on the news. I hope it's just a muscle. It would really suck for him if it was the knee.
The 12 french players for the WC:
Andrew ALBICY, Nicolas BATUM, Yannick BOKOLO, Fabien CAUSEUR, Nando DE COLO, Boris DIAW, Mickaël GÉLABALE, Edwin JACKSON, Alain KOFFI, Ian MAHINMI, Florent PIETRUS, Ali TRAORÉ.
Ian came back faster than expected from his finger injury but it's a very average team to play a WC. I hope one day, all the players will play. On the paper, it's a scary team with Parker, Beaubois, Mickael Pietrus, Noah, Turiaf, Diaw, Batum, Gelabale, Florent Pietrus, De Colo, Diot, Traoré... Only Spain and USA have in theory a better team.
Just watched Greece vs. USA, Spanoulis was awesome. It's a shame Spurs haven't been able to keep him. Spurs would crush Lakers or Heat with him.
No, he's the Euroleague Kobe Bryant.
PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia 76ers have advised injured forward Andres Nocioni to skip the upcoming FIBA world championship because of an injured left ankle.
Nocioni, a 6-foot-7 forward, was scheduled to play for Argentina.
After an MRI exam on the ankle, the Sixers team doctor recommended that Nocioni stop all basketball and impact activity until the team opens training camp at the end of September.
Upon Nocioni's return to Philadelphia, another MRI exam will be taken of his left ankle.

Italy has just failed to directly qualify for the 2011 Euro.
It's so strange to have a country that was one of the best in Europe falling that low.
Today, FIBA also suspended players after the Serbia/Greece brawl:

Teodosis, Schortsanitis and Fotsis: suspended 2 games.
Krstic: suspended 3 games.
Being drafted by Portland is a kiss of death in regards to development for a young player.
Agree, Portland isn't a great situation for young players. The main problem is that their owner doesn't care of losing millions of dollars. Each year, they buy picks for cash and the result is that they don't have enough playing time available for all their young players.
World championships is starting today/tomorrow. Is there an official thread about it? I have trouble finding it.
No, there isn't.
You can create a thread for it in the NBA forum.
If you want to talk about it in a more quiet environment, you can use this thread.

Knowing that, the fact that Batum has consistent PT is a nice achievement for him. I hope he will have a fully healthy season I'm very interested to see what kind of performance he will bring.
You know, if they really wanted people to give a rat's ass about USA Basketball, they should start by not airing games on paid, speciality channels like ESPN Classic. They make it difficult even for the people who want to watch to watch.
Go Croatia!
Caach Brown and Australia beat Jordan by only 1
