Yeah not sure how he's a household name. Matt Leinart apologists will point out the fact he's 3 of 4 right now, but 2 of his 3 completions were check downs on 3rd and long because he was too lazy to try and get a 1st down.
I'm talking about the general public, not the football junkies here. Everyone still knows who Matt Leinart is from his college days and NFL hype.

It's kind of a mystery how Matt Leinart sucks so bad in the NFL. In college, he looked like he had all the makings to be a good QB with the exception of not-so strong arm. He made pretty good reads, accurate, and clutch but now he just seems like an abortion of a quarterback. Must be a vagina disorder

There's a reason he slipped way past what everyone thought, if not for the Cardinals being re ed it would have been like Brady Quinn. He's a lefty with a long ass release who has a noodle arm and a bad at ude, there was plenty of foreshadowing he would suck.
Plus, he isn't anywhere near as smart as a guy like Pennington or have the toughness of a guy like Garcia.

Hightower is playing ahead of Wells because Tim Hightower has naked pictures of Ken Wisenhunt at a gay strip club, and plus he's one of those players who sucks at everything but has "veteran savvy" so the coaches love him even though he's useless.

I don't think anybody expected him to be this bad. Every quarterback coming out of college has a weakness, some are able to overcome it while some can't.
Drew Brees was too short, Phillip Rivers arm strength and unorthodox throwing style, Brady in the 7th round, etc.
Sure I didn't think Leinart was the next Steve Young or anything, but it seemed he had all the tools to be a competent QB in the NFL.
Being a lefty with an extremely long release is the one thing that consistently turns good college QBs into ty NFL QBs. I didn't think Leinart would be this bad, but I knew he'd be a bust immediately when he was drafted.
