Yes, Laker fans know he sucks. Everyone knows he sucks. He made it on Team USA because all of the good American big men opted not to play or are hurt. Truth is he might be the most important player on Team USA because even though he sucks, they need his rebounding and versatility, especially when the only legit big on the team is Tyson Chandler. Scary thought.

Lamar only played because in a recent article, he was asked. He told Coach K and Jerry Co that he was banged up and really couldn't play like he wanted to. They just asked for a few minutes and veteran leadership.
Hopefully he contributes.
Lamar pissed me off so much in Game 4. Glen Davis outpowered and OUTQUICKED him everwhere on the floor. There was 4 possessions in a row where he failed to box out Glen Davis and it hurt LA's chances of coming back. If I remember he sucked it up in Game 5 too.
I'm not a Laker fan but I wanted them to beat Boston and watching him play was frustrating. When he's on his A game though he is a of a force.

I didn't understand Lamar though. I don't understand how Glen Davis could beat him to every spot. I knew Glen would overpower him most plays, but that game showed me how lazy Lamar is.
I know you can be big and quick if you are athletic enough, but there is no excuse for a athletic SF/PF to get beat play after play by an overweight power forward.
We don't close out Orlando in Game Six without Odom a year ago. Those two 3's were absolute murder.
And we don't close out Boston in Game Seven without Odom two months ago. In the second half he was a driven human being to both ends of the court. Go back and watch the tapes.
& without Odom, we don't get Artest. And without Artest we don't get to 16.
No ones denying that. But that only proves my point further. He can play so well (ala Game 7 vs Boston) but other games he does so poorly. And he doesn't do poorly because he just isn't playing well that night, usually its because he is lazy and doesn't give it his 100%. The dude eats freaking candy before a game. Candy! Dude is good, but he is stupid too.

Ya if he jacked up those shots Kobe would ream his ass. Lamar isn't the smartest guy at all,he is so talented that at times he plays brilliant,but most of the time he isn't all there and stinks up the court

Back to Lamar just like parents you don't get disappointed when your son that has a c average gets a all c's you expect it. you hope for more but you know he is doing what he does ...
Lamar is frustrating and disappointing because he has the talent to do soooo much more ...yet he always does just enough. When he does show up like in the suns series the Lakers cant be stopped ...but counting on him to do so is an exercise in futility. that is why the 6th man role is perfect for him.
As for Team USA he was dumb to accept it, a player with his low motor should not look to add miles to his odometer (ha, funny didnt plan that) he should be resting and working on his game.
Lamar will never be what his talent suggests that he should ...but he still has time to approach his Miami heat level ...but that is his cieling ...and it is doubtful if even gets there again ...

Odom is a glue-guy, a swiss army knife. Does a little bit of everything. He's not a star, but he's as good a role player as you're gonna get.
It was game 5 in Orlando, btw. They would have got to six but Nelson moonwalked away from Fish at the line and that was that.
And when all's said and done, he'll be the reason USA takes home the gold in the WC.
They just showed that game on NBA TV. Probably has something to do with Bean's birfday. But L.O. was definitely money in that game five.
I think that's what frustrates people about his game. He consistently inconsistent. The only thing you know is you're going to get at least a 4 and 4 game. The question is whether or not his numbers are gong to stop at 4 and 4 or continue towards 12 and 10.

He's like that girl that you like but is really flakey or a letdown...you get your hopes up that he'll be consistent for long periods of time, but he lets you down...stands you up...and then like some breeze that hits you in the middle of nowhere, he puts up a couple of games like 1 & 2 vs. the Suns in the WCF...which, leave you confused and gets your hopes up once again...then he disappears.
