Ron Paul Calls for Audit of US Gold Reserves : Kitco News Exclusive
U.S. Rep. Ron Paul , R-Tex., plans to introduce a new bill next year that will allow for an audit of US gold reserves, he told Kitco News in an exclusive interview.
Paul dropped the news in the interview, indicating that the bill still does not have an official name yet but will be unveiled at the start of the new U.S. Congress.
“If there was no question about the gold being there, you think they would be anxious to prove gold is there,” he said of the Federal Reserve.

This, of course, is another great domestic issue for Ron Paul next year, when he is on TV debates running for president. It goes well with his plan to audit the Fed and audit the SEC.
Does he think it isn't all there?
Do you think government books, records, and reserves should be audited?
You didn't answer my question.
I don't care about your question. Its a stupid question.
If you can't answer it, just say so, Rolf.
I wouldn't mind a spot check, personally. Preferably done by an independent third party. I think there's been enough financial tomfoolery to make me leery of trusting any finance-related official.
Why don't you call his congressional office if you are so curious. Do you think government ins utions should be audited?
Don't worry...They'll never figure out we own Goldline....
Are they never audited? If they're not then I'd say thats an issue and I'm actually quite shocked. If they are then whats Paul's point?
This is going to anger the powers that be in the world. Hopefully, Ron Paul will survive long enough, politically or literally, to pull it off.
Way overblown. It might stir the hearts of a tiny, fervent minority. This is going to anger the powers that be in the world.
2012 sad to say signifies RP's political afterglow.
Why don't you say you don't know if you don't know, Rolf?Define audit.Do you think government ins utions should be audited?
I think back in the 70s there was some groundswell to see the gold in Fort Knox.
The press was allowed in.
The gold was there.
I'm fine with counting it. I'm sure when gold crashes again plenty of loons will accuse the gubment of flooding the market with Fort Knox gold.
I agree.
It would be interesting to know when the last audit was done. I'll bet it's long overdue.
What are the repercussions if any is missing?
You've got me on the 70's thing, before my time. Like I said, I see nothing wrong with some oversight, if said oversight doesn't exist (and doesn't have any potential conflicts.)
So much fail in one link.
well, people might find out we have fiat currency.
Who doesn't know that?
Everyone who isn't a Ron Paul fanatic. Or at least that seems to be what they think.
lots of people don't know who Abraham Lincoln is.
