sons he basically just called out Wade, Lebron S. Pippen, and Bosh for the hoes they truly are.
MANILA, Philippines - Gary Payton, who played with Shaquille O’Neal and Dwyane Wade on the Miami team that won the 2006 NBA le, said the other day the pressure is on the Heat’s Big Three – not Fil-Am coach Erik Spoelstra – to prove they can deliver a championship to the franchise.
“The pressure is on Dwyane, LeBron (James) and Chris (Bosh) to show it was worth all the trouble of getting them together,” he said. “I’ve played with Dwyane and it’s no knock on him but if you compare him with Kobe (Bryant), there’s a big difference in their work ethic. I played with Kobe, too, and he’d be more from my era. Kobe knows how to be humble. If Kobe loses a game, you’ll see him the next day in the gym, working extra hard to make sure he’ll be better. I don’t know if it’s the same with Dwyane. They’re both great players but Dwyane is more the show type. There are high expectations for the Heat. It’s up to the Big Three to show they deserve to be up there with the best.”

oh I forgot Gary is playing later for the NBA Asia Challenge
Christ, if Nowitski, et al had an ounce of gumption Payton would be doing the dutch about now.
“I’ve played with Dwyane and it’s no knock on him but if you compare him with Kobe (Bryant), there’s a big difference in their work ethic.
Koolaid's Translation:
“I’ve played with both them s. Don't really want to diss Wade cuz he ai'ght and but if you compare this with Kobe you ing insane, there’s a big ing difference in what they bring to the table."
"If Kobe loses a game, you’ll see him the next day in the gym, working extra hard to make sure he’ll be better. Dwyane is more the show type."
Koolaid's Translation:
That Kobe is real. If he loses the hitting the gym before everyone to lead by example. Dwayne is a wanna be. He's a show-off and jerk-off living in Kobe's shadow.
What's amazing about this is that Kobe said during the Detroit series that he thought Payton was scared of the Pistons and even went to Phil asking for GP's defensive assignment. Even after all that GP still gets it.
Thanks GP for ting on Miami's fanbase...Good stuff man...I really appreciate it. No really...
gp callin out? didnt he join the lakers to chase a ring,....
GP was a monster in his prime, didn't back down from anyone and obviously isn't afraid to give his honest opinion even if it ruffles some feathers.
Payton forgets who got him the ring
2004 Lakers bounced by the Pistons as Kobe sucked major and ballhogged his way to making the Lakers lose.
2006 Heat Dwyane Wade put on the best NBA Finals performance in NBA history and got GP his ring.
That Miami 06 team was probably the weakest le team of the Modern Era
2004 Pistons were weaker than the 06 Heat. Thanks to Kobe for that one in 2004.
Re ed myth that people say the 2006 Heat sucked. They were good. Wade is a bonafide all-time Great. #3 best SG of all time, will be #2 by career's end. Shaq was still producing, and the Heat actually played good defense.
Na the Heat victory was more Refs taking over/Dirk's supporting cast going into mode. Wade was a beast no doubt, why is it that You have to be either a Kobe or Wade fan;I'm a Kobe fan but Wade is one of my fav players to watch. Feels like around here you have to put down one to build up the other
That's what's great about GP, even though he won a ring with Wade he's not going to back down and be politically correct and he's not afraid to be honest.
Gotta agree with this. They survived a horrible Eastern Conference and were fortunate enough to play a team that had no one to slow down Wade.
That horrible Eastern conference featured the 2004 NBA Champs Detroit Pistons, and they took the Spurs to 7 games in the 2005 finals
Again, 2005 Pistons took the Spurs to 7 games, but the Heat took them out and took out the best WC team too.
The Heat were a very good team. The 2005 Finals should have been Spurs vs Heat, not Pistons. Dwyane Wade's freak rib injury prevented that.
“I’ve played with Dwyane and it’s no knock on him but if you compare him with Kobe (Bryant), there’s a big difference in their work ethic. I played with Kobe, too, and he’d be more from my era. Like I said:::it was Nowitski, et al, tails tucked firmly, ran like the ens from that Florida battle field. Like their fandom, who ran from here, tails tucked firmly on downstairs. Unlike Nowitski,, et al, their fandom will be back shortly led by Ms. Mono. & Cubby is ready. Mono is mine. I'm gonna make her sorry his mailman ever squirted her ass out.
Now,
Let us proceed...
Surprising he said that.. considering Wade got him his only ring.
The homerism is so bad it makes me wanna puke a little
anyone else think it would be funny if Heat and Mavs both made it to the finals again like back in 2006 and instead of Mavs losing Heat lost like Mavs did in 2006, that would be classic just seeing it
i don't think ring chasers should be saying much on this matter. especially payton who owes his ring to dwyane wade.
Of all people, Gary ing Payton? He should be giving Wade a rim job for the ring that he has on his finger
Didn't Gary Payton ask Phil Jackson to have someone else guard TP in the 2004 series?
Pistons choked in 2006. Was that when Flip was their coach? If so, then it's easy to see what happened there. Miami was by far the worst le team of the modern era, maybe of the last 30+ years. I can't think of a single Lakers/Spurs/Pistons/Celtics/Bulls/Rockets/etc team that wouldn't all over them. Dallas was one free throw away from sealing that up and Dirk choked, but the refs handed that trophy over to the Heat. Any basketball fan who isn't a Heat fan can agree on that.
Need GP back to NBA Gamenight with Webb
