Erm... what are you talking about? Argentina is in Group A and Greece in Group C so how the could Greece have beaten Argentina tonight?
Ans seriously: No, No and No. Javtokas is old and done. V-Span is a jerk who will never play in the NBA again.
I have been watching the games on NBA TV and both these players are playing pretty damn good Javtokas had some good moves against USA and Spanoulis led his team to victory tonight against Argentina (both good teams), Does anyone think that the Spurs should at least invite these guys to camp? According to Wikipedia the Spurs could still bring Javtokas over. One of them might be a diamond in the rough. The Spurs should be looking at every resource possible IMO

Dunno about VSpan, but Javtokas is under contract with Valencia for the next 2 years.
You mean Puerto Rico? Argentina is still undefeated.
No, they will never be here, period.
V-Span will never return to the NBA, what a shame... JVG is an IDIOT he pretty much ruined it for him. I still think he would look good in Spurs uniform but he decided to play for Panathinaikos... I mean can you blame him? More money, more les, more playing time.
Not to mention more economic catastrophe.
More money maybe. More les, well he won it all in Greece/Euroleague in 2007, and the Spurs won the NBA... so at best it's a wash. More playing time: he was well known to have had very limited PT in Greece, so that doesn't hold either (e.g. averaging 2.6 points and 1.6 rbds when his team won the 2007 Euroleague...)
He sniffed greatness but decided to be a loser.
watever is left of the MLE, should went and sign rasho who signed something similar in that range...
Kind of like the current state of Spurs basketball.
Both these players would never have made it in the NBA. One was a wuss and the other a wreck due to injuries.
Jav pre-inury was an egotistical jerk, post-injury lacks physical ability to make an impact. VSpan would be lucky to crack the rotation on any NBA team.
Temple >>> Vaginis
Bonner >>> Robertas
I don't think Javtokas has played much since the games that count started. He did well in the exhibition game against USA.
Spanoulis has starert (maybe even all-star) talent, but he clearly had some adapting problems that didn't allow him to settle in the NBA.
He just signed a new contract making him the highest paid player in Europe! Since he left the NBA has won 4 les --including the Euroleague in 09-- spurs have won zero. He never averaged 2.6 pts ad 1.6 rebs and he plays consistenly 25-30min per night.
Right. He found his level.
Below the NBA.
Good for him.
Funny, they said the same thing about Jasikevicius....
Spanoulis has Euroleague talent, but he can't cut it in the NBA, something he's proven already. Van Gundy gets way too much blame for not playing a guy who couldn't play.
JaMarcus Russell was the highest paid player in football for some time. I don't wanna hear it.
that greek probably thinks his a franchise player probably explains why the constant pms
Damn! Don't put Spanoulis in the le of a thread. That's just going to attract a KillBillPana infestation. It's like dropping a cookie next to an ant bed - somehow the pests know about it immediately.
Somebody above suggested that Spanoodless could be an all-star in the NBA. Maybe in some alternate universe. In this universe, Spanoodless is a slightly better version of Blake Ahearn.
Javtokas displayed the potential to possibly be a mediocre center in the NBA. Until he got run over on a motorcycle. But give credit where it's due - he has been a standout in the Lithuanian League.
Fans of a team that just decided to hand out 50 millions to perennial losers Jefferson and Bonner looking down on Spanoulis.
Interesting.
IMO, both are forget about it at this point; they are both too old. However, as hypotheticals, I think you are understimating what Javtokas could have brought. While he was never a brilliant player, even after the accident he was really quite athletic. I think he would have been a better fit in the NBA, rather than in the Euro leagues (just as Spanoulis is clearly a better fit in the euro leagues). Think Francisco Elson brains and athleticism, but with an extra 30 lbs of muscle. That's considerably beyond mediocre in the NBA...
Now, of course, he's never coming over. What might have been...
This from the person who said that Jefferson would be earning $100K, and wouldn't get any minutes, if he were playing on a Euro team?![]()
The same person who said that Cosic was the best passing big man in Euro history?(Ever heard of Arvydis Sabonis?)
The same person who said that Tony Parker has lost most of his speed and is washed up?
Are you one of the incarnations of KBP?
Interesting.
