Oh I know, that's why I didn't even put a bet which would have been based on him leaving for a couple of months. I knew that wasn't gonna work, Euroleague starts soon and he will have to update us on what Billy Spanoulis is doing, as if anyone other than him cares.
He'll probably say that the Greeks lost on purpose, because next year's european championship is much more important than this WC, because it's a qualifying tournament for the Olympics and the Greeks wanted to get home soon, so they can rest for next year.
I will take bet. If Spain wins I will be gone for 2 months. If Greece wins you will be gone for 2 months.

That's fine by me, but why involve everyone else? It's you and me debating, why make it an impossible bet. I don't know any of these guys, and I have no way of convincing them. But I will take the bet. If Spain lose, I will come back on the 2nd of November. And I have no trolls, so you don't have to worry about that.

well there is no way I or anyone else can guarantee that. We don't know each other. What you are doing is pretty much a more diplomatic way of saying that you won't take the bet.

I want them to take the bet for all the trash talking they do for years against Greek players. They should take the bet or they are scared. I am not. I am confident we will win.

I think it can easily go both ways. I am a bit disappointed to see two of my favorites face each other so early in the tournament. I was counting on one of these two teams to upset the USA.
Greece is nowhere close to the 06 team, despite why KBP says. They never had a chance. Their pick and roll masters are either out of form, Diamantidis, or not here, Papaloukas. Other than Bourousis no single player has improved on their 06. KBP might say Spanoulis is better now, but he will not play a better game than what he did against the US in 06. He caught lightning in a bottle in that game, even being able to hit outside shots which he rarely does.
If anything the Turks have a lot of size upfront to possibly make it difficult for them. Both Erden and Asik have played quite well, and their wings can score. But they are generally a young team, with little experience at elite compe ions, wich is overperforming because they are playing in front of their own crowds. Few expected them to do this well this early though.
I don't think Argentina have a chance either. And Brazil probably blew their best chance in the group game.
So it really comes back to Spain again, hopefully they'll find their fom, and Rubio will play the way he did in that friendly.
In reality, international basketball had much better teams in the early half of the decade, complete at every position with players pretty much at the top of their game. Spain aside, and it's clear they aren't at their best either right now, no one comes close to what Yougoslavia and Argentina had during those years. Those teams were packed, and full of winners as well. And that Lithuanian team, for a shorter period though, was ing good too. There aren't a lot of those teams right now, so even a weaker USA team might just walk over the compe ion.
I assure you our current team is much better than the 2006 team. You don't know what the you are talking about. In 2006 we had Hatzivrettas as our starting shooting guard.
We had Papadopoulos as our starting center. We had Vasilopoulos who was so young and without experience that he could barely play then. We had players like Dikoudis who were key players. Please just stop.
The only player Greece has now that is not up to par is Vouyoukas. Other then him Calathes is weak but he can play at the level. The rest are fine.

Yes of course. That 06 team won Eurobasket in Belgrade a year earlier by playing some of the best defense I have seen at international level, and in the WC beat the US and was defeated by a great Spanish team.
This team has already lost two games, with the one against Turkey being pretty much a blowout in the second half. But somehow, with all this evidence we are to believe that this team is much better. It doesn't quite add up now does it?

You were claiming the other day that Dimantidis is not as good as he used to be, which is true, but now say that he is part of this invincible line up???
And very nice of you to forget Theo in all of this, the main man of that team, and one of the best PGs in Europe of the decade, and the man who ran everything for Greece during those years. You don't have who can tie Theo's shoes in the current team, shoot me if Spanoulis ever learned how to properly run an offense that asked him to pass the ball.
