It was an idiotic thing for him to say, but I agree with the statement. I wouldn't label it as just a European problem however.


In my experience, I have notice a definite difference in personal hygiene. I briefly lived in Angers, France and the smells hit me like a freight train. Unfortunately, I had to eventually buy some of the French brands of deodorant and I understand why they stink. I was attending college there and my female professor would smell so badly by Wed. that it made me nauseated. However, I noticed that the younger generation didn't smell as badly as the older ones. Even here in America, while I'm waiting in line at Disney World or some other theme park, the funk will hit you the moment you get close enough to some people. Funk is an international problem not just a European problem.

While there are stinky ppl everywhere, Europe is known for some of their societies not taking daily showers and it shows on the streets.

I'm sorry but Danny has a very valid point. Some eurocountries stink to high heavens. For example, in Portugal, you can't even go inside a bus without getting nauseous. In Italy/greece, an average person will stink... like a dead donkey. In russia, ppl use the same coat the entire winter and dont wash them. They have to keep them outside the house at night. Etc, etc, etc.
